The Secret Saturdays is a lot of things, sci-fi, thriller, action, adventure... the list goes on. But it also was a short lived show on Cartoon Network that may just be overlooked. So today, we are going to take a look at The Secret Saturdays to see what this show was all about, what happened to it and why I think this show should never just be a secret!

I loved Secret Saturdays! The only thing that sucked was they didn't show them often enough during its run time; I'd often miss episodes because of it 😕

YESSS!! this was the series that got me into the weird side of the world, all kinds of myth's, legends and crypid sightings both ancient and modern, there are plenty of mysteries from the sea, air and land

Another great aspect about the show that didn’t get highlighted enough during its initial run was the diversity of the cast and the world. Watching this show as a kid got you exposed to just about every single major culture in the world, with the characters reflecting this in their diversity and uniqueness from one another. Mind you, this was all before diversity was even a real point of focus in television aimed at kids. It was just a choice made by the creators for no reason other then realistically portraying the vast world we live in. This doesn’t even mention the fact that the Saturday’s were a mixed family. Growing up in a mixed family in the 2000’s, it was just so freaking cool to finally see a mixed kid like myself who had parents that looked like my own, a character I could actually relate too, not just look up too. Solid show, and a solid review.

The secret saturdays has been my favorite show since I was a little kid, I have the logo tattooed on my ankle lol. It feels like it really represents a brand of weird but 'mature' kids who wanted something raw and depthful, and speaking for myself, I was a huge monster/horror fan and wasnt always able to relate to the interests of other kids, so this was a breath of fresh air for me. I also have autism but wasn't diagnosed until my teen years so I think the entire 'misfit' vibe of the series really drew me in during that time. It's nice to see it still talked about after all these years. ☺ Btw- I'm so glad you brought up dwellings! I've gotten all 3 issues so far and it's incredible, this dude's seriously got a galaxy brain

One of my favorite underrated cartoon shows. It had a lot of great action and comedy, good hero and villain characters and interesting unique creatures shown throughout it. And as someone interested in cryptids especially Bigfoot, Chupacabra and the Loch Ness Monster, I'm glad that they made a cartoon show focused on cryptids, there are sadly not a lot of cartoon shows about cryptids. Real shame it and it's characters arent very popular and dont get the recognition they deserve due to the show being sadly forgotten.

I missed this show, because it was so serialized, it was hard to air reruns of the series because kids would get lost hoping onto the show at random. I still got the DS game for this show and I loved playing that.

After the video you did on Generator REX I was secretly hoping you'd check this show out as well. Two criminally underrated shows I loved, both kinda getting an ending but feeling cut shorter than they could have been. I would have loved to see more about the worlds in both these shows for sure.

The villain is an obvious homage to tales from the crypt which also became a Saturday morning cartoon series. Love it.

So weird seeing people remember this show. I was an intern for Porchlight back when they were making SS & I never saw it air. By time I finished college they had dissolved so I never went back to work for them & forgot all about it. Here's a fun fact- the director was obsessed w/Scooby Doo! I had to make so many copies of the scripts & storyboards, so it's fun to see them realized. A bunch of really nice people worked on this- The BG & Prop Designers were especially cool dudes! Bummer it didn't work out.

My first experience with this show was wild. I was like 8, and the first episode I ever saw was the Owlman episode, aka one if the most disturbing and unsettling episodes of the show. Just my luck, when I changed the channel, it was a history channel show on the Owlman. So long story short, 8 year old me was traumatized and afraid of owls for many years. I eventually rediscovered the show and fell in love with it then, but I still refuse to watch the Owlman episode to this day

I really wish this show could get a reboot, it would be so popular if it came out today. especially with how diverse the characters were. even a spin-off, or a " 10 years later " type plotline for it would be amazing. the fandom is so small, and finding the old merch, comics, and books is hard. it's also hard to find people to talk to, or people who make content, fanart or fanfiction. new fans would be great.

It was always one of my favorite shows as a kid. Since I've always been a night owl i always got to catch the episodes as they aired. The concept was wild but it worked well, the art is really pleasing with the bold lines and good use of contrast. While the second season was a bit short, imo it's better than having a story cut in the middle, or stretched way too thin with filler

Yes!!! God I loved this show growing up! And I was always so sad that no cartoon KZbinrs did any things on it because it was so cool! But yeah even when I was younger I noticed that the show got fucking moved to 11pm and I had to sneak out of my room to even come close to watching it and never got to finish it due to being put to bed and it just not being around for me to watch. I loved it! It was one of my favorites along with Ben 10, and Generator Rex! I don't remember much, save for the ending, and the kickbutt themesong! I tried the DS game, but couldn't get too far into it, I got lost and wasn't sure what to do. Can't remember my opinion on the sound effect of Zack using his powers, I may have been fine with it. It deserves a re-watch, though I have A LOT of things to re-watch! 😅 I do prefer the original look to the Omniverse look, they just felt more human/fleshed out. They just look like humans in mech suits in Omniverse... Then again, classic Ben 10, and Alien force to Ultimate Alien were my prefered styles to Omniverse. Wonder what the Saturday's would've looked like in the AF/UA style- or even classic Ben 10's! I prolly would have HATED the Drew's sword toy, I'm VERY sensitive to sound, prolly would have picked it up, activated the sound, then promptly dropped the darn thing...
