Just a brilliant film. The only jump scares are well placed. Audrey as always is exceptional. Last time I ever lept out of my seat in a movie theater ( the refrigerator scene)

Just found your channel while looking for reviews of this film. Great analysis and insight. Subscribed. I'm writing a film right now in the vein of this film and Rope, so I really appreciated how you broke down all aspects of the film, including the script. Thanks again!

Ever since I was a kid, this has been one of my all-time favorites. Hepburn is my favorite actress and this character feels tailor-made for her, she did it so brilliantly! The entire cast, though, did a phenomenal job and I make myself wait a while, anywhere from a few months to a few years before I watch it again. I want to forget the little details so there's something for me to (re)discover each time I sit down to watch. The plot is tight, the characters are solid, and the sets don't really look like sets. It's truly something to experience.

This was a great retrospective on one of my absolute favorites! I really enjoyed your breakdown of the script and the blocking. The blocking in particular is so phenomenal in this movie; every time I rewatch it, I notice new details.

Appreciated it more after having participated in the stage version. Stage acting can teach you a lot about film blocking too.

Alan Arkin should have gotten a supporting Oscar for this but he just shrugged and said "You can't win an Oscar for tormenting Audrey Hepburn."

I love Wait Until Dark. And the match scene is *intense*! Richard Crenna was great. This movie took advantage of Audrey's seeming fragility while displaying a great inner strength for her character. I'm a newbie to the channel, but really loving it, thanks!!

you lucked out. you got the Alan Arkin role. I played a cop at the end in our high school production. had two lines. but I bet it was a blast playing such a bad guy. thanks for a great review on a classy thriller that gets overlooked sometimes because audiences have gotten so lazy. the showdown at the end between Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin is so worth the wait with the first jump scare I ever saw.

I love this comment so much. Glad you enjoyed the review. My brother was actually given the lowly role of 3rd act police officer and carps about it to this day. Didn't hurt that my Mother was the director of the piece. There may have been some obvious nepotism there but I promise you- I was a good actor! My Mom has been highly influential in my literary and film diet throughout the years so I owe her a big debt.

gotta love having a mom as director. very cool. what people say to me when I tell them what part I had is "there are no small parts, only small actors." as a side-note, I had to crack up when you said "obnoxious Gloria" - our Gloria was played by a very young Nancy Cartwright who would go on to be the voice of Bart Simpson. I can still hear her very loud delivery of all of Gloria's lines.
