Tan Jianci was AMAZING in this series. His ability to show emotions in his face and eyes was incredible. Such a shame his talent wasn't really recognized until recently. And he still works relentlessly to prove himself.

@@lisamomon6793he clearly showed, that he considered the option of them being together and wished it could happen. But the problem is: they both are very insecure because of the past traumas. She is terrified of being left alone again, that's why she seeks company and wants someone, who will only have her as the priority. Whereas he is constantly doubting, that people around him can accept his true nature: 9 headed snake and someone of lowly origin. They didn't put too much trust in each other because of that and much more. But Xiang Liu also tried to pursue Xiao Yao, it9s just that her words about him "not being the man for the girls' dreams" hurt him and made him once again doubt the intentions of his beloved woman.

IMO, the best part of the story is the relationship between XL and XY, all the other things could be interesting, if the characters were not so one-sided.

I think this summarizes the entire arc so well. I too watched the entire S1, read the novel in between, then finished S2. My gooosh these two. I've always felt the title was that it was really BOTH XY and XL that lost each other forever. (I think with Zhuan Xu, it would also make sense, but Xiao Yao probably won't feel like she lost him forever, not really)

I also kind of started to analyse the titles for each part and they all apply to XY and XL. Lost you forever is a summary of their story, Love you forever is about XL accepting his feelings for her and being determined to do everything for her, although not telling her. And Miss you forever is, of course, XY living her long life missing the one person, that truly was worthy of all the love in her heart.

The wedding parallel here is crazy, they are both in red and they are thinking about each other. Why else would XY sit by the ocean, if not waiting for him to come and take her away on one of that various far away islands. And there he was, remembering the times, when they were together, but choosing to let her go, because he's afraid of being rejected or not being able to make her happy this way. I also didn't like that the scene they added, when he sees the crystal ball. That memory of them seeing the process of lovemaking between merpeople had nothing to do with the image inside this ball! The merpeople inside it are referencing XL and XY, because one is trying to reach the other, but the other is beyond reach, as if not from this world. I could write so long about it, but yeah...)

And he did so much more without letting her know. Like saving her fox boy. In the novel he took her blood not for her, but to bring Tushan Jing to life. And he even sacrificed one of his lives to make the blood pill for Jing. And what? She never even knew that and never understood that he was madly in love. At the end of the day, she convinced herself, they were always a transaction for him. And he did all he could to make her believe it.

@@dirayne omg right! they changed so much from the novel. they down played his character. he did so much more but they took it out or changed it to flip xuan scene so he could have more spot light. just like im also mad they cut out the beach scene where xy chases xl on the beach after first seeing his 9 heads. it would show more of his shy part and why he conceals himself because he only wants her to see him in a certain way. that would of let alot of people who dont understands why he hides so much from her. That scene on the beach with him pushing her away and saying dont look at me would of helped alot of people. hopefully people read the novel

@@yujichan I hoped for that scene so so much, but deep inside I knew, it was never going to happen, because it would turn the tides. Not only we see, that XL still can't believe, that anyone could see him and not be disgusted or terrified. (And that is a big part in him giving up on Xiao Yao, as he is afraid she rejects him). But we also see how gentle Xiao Yao is towards XL. She grabs onto him and tries so hard to explain, that she wasn't afraid, that there is nothing wrong with him having more heads, than the average species. And that little moment, when he drinks her blood. He asks, if she isn't afraid, that he'll drink too much. To which she replies, that he is more afraid, than her. Just kill me already, it is so precious. That whole sequence after he comes to save her and till the moment he leaves is absolute gold. But instead of it we got some unnecessary shit like 5000 scenes of the empress being jealous.

She was arrogant and even two-faced even before. Remember, how she made a fuss about Jing not telling her his true identity, when she herself was even hiding, that she is a girl. She has lots of painful memories and traumas, that makes her act really stupid at times.
