They really need to bring the Warbonnet back. I'm tired of the bland oranges, dark greens, etc.

Great video! Santa Fe is my favorite fallen flag railroad. I even have a two HO scale Bachmann Spectrum Santa Fe GE Dash 8-40CWs. I've only gotten Warbonnet and Fakebonnet Dash 9-44CWs a handful of times here in Georgia.

From what I heard, the Gullwing cab was both for clearance at coal load outs, and ‘aerodynamics’.

I don't see what's different about the Gullwing cab. It looms normal to me.

Hi from Milton Keynes in England. I only recently got into videos of rail operations in the US. I am a retired driver - I used to drive electric units on the Rugby to London line - and a long time railfan, but I have to say that modern day operations in the UK are pretty boring now. I particularly like the videos made by yourself, mbMars and Rowan, they've given me hours of very interesting entertainment in the last couple of months. I've also just bought a book 'Guide to North American Locomotives', so I can now identify what I see in the videos. Although very short, I found this video about the Warbonnet interesting because it explained something I didn't know before - I'd heard of Warbonnets but didn't realise it referred to the paint scheme ! Having now seen your video I understand the significance and the heritage behind the livery. Thank you.

Yep seen the warbonnets in old pics and videos I have a ho scale Bachman dcc ready war bonnet gp40-2 True fact is that atsf had a few GP’s in the war bonnet, I believe 2 survived and were repainted back into bluebonnet, the others were scrapped from what a freind told me. Either way I hope I can see a war bonnet but them coming up on CSX through Massachusetts is an extremely rare sight, it’s rare if normal up units make their way up here, bnsf is a sometimes seldom visitor, but heritage and special units always find their way up here

Thinking about it, the Warbonnet dash 9s are pretty much the last remnant of 90s railroading before all of the mergers and everything was infected by psr

Actually 712 story goes back a little after the merger. I believe it was one of the first of its kind ever built for the BNSF. It was painted in that scheme because the railroad was so desperate for power they slapped BNSF on the side of the Warbonnet paint.

You did hear him mention that it was remote controlled using a belt mechanism? He has all the controls needed for yard work.
@JointedStudios3 жыл бұрын
@@rvnmedic1968 Yea but i wonder why some railroads do have that mechanism...
@rvnmedic19683 жыл бұрын
@@JointedStudios If you have a large yard with a lot of consists to put together, the remote operator works solo and puts the trains together. My son was a UP conductor and he had to do that on the ground using a chest remote controller. He also had to grab onto a car that he was hitching to another one. On and off until the train was put together. The chest remote had a safety feature that if he fell it set off an alarm to the yard boss. It actually happened to him. He was okay, just slipped on a wet step. I was hired to work remote near Syracuse. The current guy had what looked like a half caboose that he stood on. Cheers.

BNSF should just bring back the Santa Fe name and paint schemes, bothe the yellow and blue warbonnet and the incomparable red and silver, and paint the lower horsepower units into the older pre warbonnet blue and yellow.
