WAITRESS RECOGNIZES MILLIONAIRE: HER HUSBAND WHO DIED 7 YEARS AGO, AT A CHRISTMAS PARTY...
The Parker household was unusually quiet that evening, except for the faint crackling of the fireplace and the distant sound of carolers outside. The scent of cinnamon and pine filled the air, clinging to every corner of their modest home. Allison adjusted the ornaments on the slightly crooked Christmas tree, her fingers brushing against a delicate angel figurine that Connor had insisted on putting up last year. The ornament was fragile, much like the sense of normalcy she had tried so hard to rebuild for her family.
“Mom, does this go here?” Mia’s small voice broke the silence as she held up a glittering silver snowflake, her eyes wide with innocent curiosity. Allison turned and smiled, a warmth that barely masked her fatigue. “That’s perfect, sweetheart. Right at the top.”
Mia grinned, her cheeks flushed from the warmth of the fire, and carefully hung the ornament near the star at the top of the tree. Connor, now nine years old and growing far too quickly, was sprawled on the worn-out couch, fiddling with a half-finished puzzle. His brow furrowed in concentration, though he was fully aware of the conversation.
