Beta 1.6, I remember my first night clearly still. In a dirt hole hiding out the night 😂 the good ol days. I remember starting sixth grade, showing the game to all my friends and us calling over our parents home phones to talk while we played online, discovering everything as we went. I'm slowly picking up pieces of memories that were left behind... this is one of those moments. Me and my siblings used to play this a lot after school and we had so much fun. I was there, I lived it, the early days of Minecraft, you can still play the old versions, but to be honest, I'm not nostalgic for the old mechanics, I miss the unknown, where I didn't know how to do anything and everything was new and unexplored, mostly I miss the people I played with and all the old worlds we built together. Some of these builds look really cool honestly. The harsh alpha lighting really makes a lot of the simple builds stand out 0:53 - 0:57 the cobble structures look so cool despite only being made up of cobble and glass. Also the rough and jagged terrain really helps make any build look good too; small builds built near a cliff face like 0:33 0:49 0:57 are such a vibe

I don’t know about anyone else, but 2013 was a really good year for me, even outside of Minecraft. No year since has come close to it. For having such a simple artistic style, Minecraft can be surprisingly pretty. It’s all just blocks and simple colors, but it is surprisingly good at evoking the natural beauty of the Earth.

Why this feels better than current minecraft, while current minecraft has everything and more? Maybe it’s because this voxel/survival game is still new at the time thus the sense of wonder for us gamers goes through the roof at that time, or maybe just the nostalgia and friendships built along the way.
