This is a big reason I think you’ll be such a valuable part of mental health profession - you actively try to better your own life and implement your own advice into your day and share those tips while still acknowledging that this may not be as easy for everyone else. You constantly think of other people and how they can adjust these things to fit their own life and personality.

I loooove waking up early. feels so good to be alone, and it’s so peaceful. but recently i’ve been losing my “why.” ive been applying to jobs, and waiting for responses, and just overall overwhelmed by how underwhelming it’s been if that makes sense?? I just got a gym membership, hopefully a little dopamine and serotonin will get me out of this funk.

4:30 AM for me for almost a year now. Every. Single. Day. Why I didn't start this earlier I'll never know. I fill my mornings with yoga, walking my dog, star gazing, watching the sunrise, ACTUALLY eating breakfast, meditation, reading. Wouldn't change it for the world.

This was inspiring to listen to. I am terrible at waking up early but my university classes are starting again soon and I need to get back into the swing of things. I think that doing simple and productive tasks like these in the morning can help you feel happier and more functional as a human and I also think it'd be really helpful to anyone who may be struggling with mental health issues. Structure, doing things to better yourself and just feel good.

My high school morning routine was as follows. -wake up at 330am and get ready for school. (I was on the JROTC drill team all 4 years) -get to school at 5am and have drill team practice until 8 -from 8am-3:15pm have class -from 4-6pm more drill team practice -6:30-12pm have me time (hang out with friends, watch netflix) -have 3 hours of sleep and repeat. This in no way was healthy but I look back now that I've graduated and miss it. I used to do so much and never felt tired because I was always so active. So now in college Ive scheduled morning classes and have a 2 hours gap to do hw then hop on the train and go to work. It'll feel like a lot but I miss being productive and getting shit done. I love you Sarah because the Fall semester just started today so this couldn't be more perfect timing!

I have to be at work at four in the morning(I'm a cake decorator), so this video doesn't really apply to my life exactly, but I love having to wake up early. I get off around noon, and I have so much time during the day to do whatever I want or need to do. I'm so much more productive, and I actually get time to relax. Unfortunately I wake up 15 minutes before I have to be out the door, and I take caffeine pills every day. Choosing to get up early and needing to is definitely different, but either way it makes a difference. I definitely recommend it. Just having those few extra hours each day adds up. I have to wake up at 5.20 am for work and I generally wake up before 7 on my days off. I find it peaceful that early but other than that I hate it. It's dark and cold and I don't feel any more productive. I also don't get enough sleep because I get home at 7.15 pm and have to eat. I find myself becoming more productive in the evenings and then have to wind down and go to sleep. I've always been more productive in the evenings. I don't get enough sleep anyway so I could not get up any earlier!! Sorry to be a downer! I know a lot of people who could benefit though. I wish I had time to do yoga before work but I would not sacrifice even a minute more of sleep to do it! At work I don't feel truly awake and productive until after lunch!!!! You are right though, there are some good things such as the peaceful feeling of being one of the only people up at that time. I miss going to bed with my parter though as he stays up 2-3 hours more than me.

Do/Did you struggle with getting out of bed so early? I really want to change my sleeping schedule and wake up earlier to be more productive, but when my alarm goes off I CAN'T get up 9 out of 10 times. I struggle so much with this. I'm not content in the evening when I wasn't very productive that day because I slept in way too long but the next morning when the alarm goes off all I wanna do is sleep for another hour or two and than I feel so bad about it when I finally wake up. Its so frustrating. What tips do you have on HOW to get up earlier when you struggle with waking up?
@somnolentverve21836 жыл бұрын
I struggle with the same thing, which is why I downloaded an app called Puzzle Alarm Clock which requires you to solves things like math operations, mazes, type a sequence of letters, memory games... and you adjust the settings however you like, in my case I have to solve everything so that the alarm would stop blaring. It's really flexible, and I really recommend it. Rocket Alarm is a good alternative for ios. Best of luck ^^

The "Wake up earlier" thing made me procrastinate and not watch your video for a several hours. Not gonna lie, I was dreading watching this video because I thought it was going to be about being super productive and getting things done, which I really need to get into doing more. But I really enjoyed the angle you took on it, viewing mornings as me-time, because that's what it is for me. When I don't work early or have to go to school, I take all my time to wake up, to make myself a nice breakfast, to enjoy it while not being rushed. I will watch a long-ish youtube video or two or read if I feel I did too much of that recently. It is also time for self-care: I'll do a mask, wash my hair and do a conditioning treatment, maybe braid it. I'll pick comfy clothes that are not yesterday's pajamas and get started on my day. Today, I think I will do some cleaning and bake muffins and cookies :)

Waking up early really does good things. I will try to keep that in mind on free days. Other than that.. I wake up at 5 am every morning and anything earlier than that wouldn't work. I know people say that meditation is good and everything but for me being alone with my thoughts is more chaotic than listening to music or reading. Listening to music or reading quiets my mind whereas being alone in silence makes my mind busy with thoughts that I would rather not indulge.
