i read this in manga years ago and LOVED the fight. i wouldve rather for her to stay alive even though kenpachi is one of my fav characters because she is just so unique and strong. shes genuinely chilling and i was really happy a woman had the treatment that is usually only reserved for men is shounen (naruto is a prime example). but she had badass everything and for such a character to die i was sad. but it was needed for the plot. i just wish female characters didnt just exist for male ones to grow

Not to be dramatic or anything but as a woman and a manga reader I was absolutely shocked at the reveal. Unohana is hands down my biggest fictional crush and favorite female character of all time. I went through all stages of grief in a span of a chapter and have never had a more complex mix of feelings towards an author. A feeling of admiration for creating her and an unstoppable urge to choke Kubo out for killing her. Now I will live out my days by simping for a dead woman.
