I want to like this comment one million times. Nox was not only one of the best animated villains of the decade, but I'd go so far as to say he was one of the best written animated characters of the decade, period. You hate him, then you want to see him defeated, then you stop and go "wait... what's he really..." and then it hits you like a sledgehammer. And this here, at the end of his journey. In the end, he's with his family... which is what he wanted all along. Adieu, Nox.

Annoyed, yes, but all the end credits show is his armor. I heard he'll make a reappearance in season 3

I blame netflix for giving a short window to cancel the autoskip. I always thought Nox was still alive, cuz I wasn't able to watch the whole credits. And I was so confused in season 3 when they stated that he was dead.

All we see in the credits is his armor. You don't see him crumble to dust at his family's grave, nothing shows his death at all. All you see is his armor, which given how we saw it repaired in his clock, time and again, you know it can be removed. They never showed his appearance without his armor on. He very well may turn up in season 3.

Hey I know this is 10 years later but I just want to say that that is his family's grave, not his. He died and turned to dust on top of it since the eliacube wasn't keeping him alive anymore.

though I do think season 2 was more enjoyable than season 1 Qilby still wasn't half the bad guy that Nox was, plus Nox wasn't really all that bad... and Qilby just didn't make all that much sense as to why he did what he did, well maybe beside that had become insane from the fact that he could never forget his past and in a mad person's mind no action needs a reason to make sense, but it kinda made him a bit boring as a villain.

I don't care when or how, but they better freaking shoehorn Nox back into the series at some point. They seriously built Nox up more than any other character in the series, only to kill him off, off screen, in the final five seconds of season one's credits? Come, on man. Name one other character that's got that kind of treatment.

Honestly, the treatment he got was far better than it could've been. He may have died, but he undid two of the most game-changing evils he committed, had at least one person who seemed to understand his motive a bit, and, at the very least, would probably see his family again in whatever afterlife exists in the World of Twelve. His ending was about as happy as it could get given the circumstances.

Personal I think his ending is perfect, I'm sad to see he dead too, but his death is unavoidable, honestly I don't think any souls can keep living after suffer like that.

Because that's the way he CHOSE to die. Nox would have had to live, not just with the fact that he could never rejoin his family, but that the two hundred years of atrocities he had committed would never be undone. With that in mind, I'd say the ending was perfect for him.
