Waking Up A Sleeping Gardner 6LXB.

You'll have to forgive me if I'm a bit cryptic about this. This is our new project, I'm not going to say too much at the moment apart from it's a Gardner powered Leyland bus. All will be revealed soon. Honest!
This particular old girl hasn't been started for about 10 years and this was the second time we'd made her 'live' today. The first time the engine was just turned over with the injector pipes disconnected to clear out any contaminated fuel and to circulate some oil around the engine.
This time around, all the fluids were checked and topped up where necessary and she was actually started.
Apologies for the chatter at the beginning of the video and yes, the horn got stuck on for a while! Old 1970's designed electrics are great aren't they?
So she runs but she will need a bit of engine work to make her usable, but that's a bit of a way off at the moment with our many other projects taking priority. Until then, she's safe.

When I worked Gardners in ERFs and the like the whole truck would disappear in a huge cloud of blue smoke on a cold morning. Clean as a whistle when warm but on cold start up wow.

Think you will find it’s because it’s been fitted with a eminox exhaust system basically similar to a catalytic converter exhaust system

Sounded like that starter motor completed the whole le man's 24h before starting the engine lol does sound nice when running. Ratty exhaust or something?

Yes that starter is one of the roughest ones I've ever heard. She's a bit lumpy when running but still sounds quite satisfying.
