As big bags of fluid, we tend to leak a lot when things go catastrophically wrong. You could break your neck and have no blood, but most people in those kinds of accidents hit their head on something. A little well placed blood would be realistic. I think they were trying to do it without pushing it too far. Seeing yourself unconscious and wheeled away with chill you, but seeing yourself covered in blood, unconscious, and taken away could traumatize people more than this.

I have seen hypnotists plant a suggestion in a person, so that he/she will do or not do a certain behavior, like: can't remember his name, stick his feet to the floor or hand to the head, won't remember a letter or number, will jump up and do something ridiculous when a particular sound or word is heard. At any time Derren could have planted the suggestion that when she heard a particular sound on her phone that she would go into a deep sleep trance, and that when she awakens her feet would stick to the road and would not be able to move. For folks who are very suggestible,, this is easy. Derren always looks to use suggestions people in his shows. Once a hypnotherapist was chosen at random from his audience to come up on stage. As soon as Derren found out this man was a hypnotist, the man was sent back to his seat. A trained hypnotist would recognize and avoid any suggestions Derren could give and possibly ruin the act.

Second scenario I've seen dependent on the "put to sleep" so effectively the person can be moved and inserted into a dramatic staged event. I'm incredulous the subject is convinced she is experiencing a Twilight Zone moment, and instead is just playing along; as hypnosis participants often do.

Late reply but no I actually fully believe it. I went to one of his live shows where he did essentially this to a guy, made him move around and do stuff then lose all memory of it. The thing is, the guy who he chose was sitting right next to me! I questioned him and questioned him and he was absolutely solid that he genuinely didn’t know what was going on and had no memory of what happened. His girlfriend also questioned him over and over and he was genuinely hypnotised and had no idea what had happened
