Lester, I drive a Amish family for their needs. I enjoy this family very much. I lost my Ollie in August and they all new it. I drove them one day to their family event and they gave me a puppy. His name is Cooper and he is a Mini Australian Shepard and I love him so much. I am so very blessed for my Amish family.

Lester Family gatherings can be fraught with tension, especially after there has been a conflict in the family and if there has been no contact for awhile. I am so proud of you for going to your family’s thanksgiving dinner. I know it will be hard and that you struggle with the noise levels, but you are a very strong man emotionally and you always take the higher road so I am very proud of you and I respect you so much. The Amish may seem self sufficient but they rely on their “English“ neighbors for a lot. They are very hard on all their animals. I am a country girl and live in the dairy country of New York and we raised our own food, plant and animal . We definitely have witnessed the brutal treatment inflicted on the animals. I am sure that Roman was worked extremely hard in the fields. The Amish came to my area 13 years ago and they are definitely not what you would think. I am so happy for Roman that you are being affectionate to him, he is probably skittish because of lack of love and attention. God Bless you and Jami. You are a blessing to all your babies, even the giants ❤

I’m in Pennsylvania and live close to an Amish community. They do see their animals as machines to care for their fields. They do great work if you need something done. They built my shed and put on my new roof with a 30 year warranty!

Lester, I know Roman gets you a bit nervous, but I have found most and again I say most horses his size are just gentle giants, and the injuries they cause are usually because they do not know how big they are and they either step on your foot or hit you with their giant head. The end of Jami's vid had me in tears, the wind blowing in her hair, the soft music and no talking and Roman just going closer for the love was priceless. Just a girl and her horse!

Roman may have been mistreated by his original owners, but his last guy loved him to pieces. His wife couldn't afford to keep him, so he's now at JL. And he's beautiful. Grandpa had "work horses," Barney & Babe, & I've always loved them. So big & gentle!

Belgium draft horses are strong but very gentle. They want a job, just like a guardian dog. If you get a pulling rig, Roman would easily be able to pull your feed wagons, full or empty. I grew up with all amish neighbors, their horses were kept for work, the Belgiums pulled farm equipment and hay wagons, but not buggies. Amish were very strict and firm with their animals, but never cruel. They were kept well fed, clean, and exercised. Not abused, the amish need their animals to work the farm, just as you need your truck and tractor. You take care of your equipment to keep it in good condition, the amish also take care of their animals, because it is their equipment. It was hard watching the chat all assume these animals are abused. Yes there are good and bad people in every community, but these animals are very important to the Amish community, they are not abused. They are also not spoiled pets either.

Horns are made of keratin which forms a sheath around a core of bone. So the core of horns are bone which is attached to the skull, covered in layers of keratin. Keratin is similar to what our hair and nails are comprised of.

My eyes welled up when you went up to him and he just stopped eating and enjoyed your loving on him! ❤❤❤ he is such a beautiful beast of a horse! ❤ I think you should just tell him that you find him a bit intimidating, but that you love him anyways. They have a tendency to understand us more than we give them credit for. I was riding a giant myself on a forest ride, and my friend was riding a smaller horse. We were perfectly ok as long as it was just the two of us, but then a couple of other riders joined in, and they were a bit rowdy. My horse, was a bit unpredictable when there was a lot of movements and people around, so I got a bit nervous. He started to get riled up, so I just told him, that he scared me when being like that, and that I would prefer a mellower ride. He just stopped, and turned around, facing away from the others. I told my mate that I was gonna go for a solitary ride, and that she could join the rowdy bunch, I knew she loved that kind of riding, and I was so astonished that he just calmly went up the lane with me, instead of inserting himself as the top dog in the pecking order, as would be his usual manner! We had an amazing ride, just him and I! Such a good bonding moment. He was always my favourite after that, and he always was good with me. I think they feel your fear anyways, and when you just ask them to meet you where you’re at, they will. They are so smart, and good natured, even the lively, ornery ones! As long as they feel your love is bigger than your fear. ❤❤❤

Lester, we live in South Texas. A Amish Community is located about 15mins from us. They are always having auctions with a verity of animals and other items. We haul a load of corn a week to them with our 18 wheeler and grain trailer. They are very kind and awesome people! ♥️🙏🏻♥️

Roman is beautiful. There are a couple of you tubers I follow who do rescues and training. The Clever Cowgirl and Free Spirit Equestrian. You might check out some of their videos. Free Spirit creator goes to auctions with lots of Amish horses and has a couple Belgians. She runs a riding school. They are in the Ohio area I believe. Check on getting supplements that will help with hair growth for his mane and tail. I'm enjoying watching all the horses and the longhorns. Happy Thanksgiving!

You can get a faux tail for Roman. I would. How sad not to be able to swat flies. I know why they dock the tails. I’ve always wondered why they didn’t just cut the long hair so that they would have when they are retired. I read that they stopped docking the Clydesdale horses and just tie their tail up in a bun. Anyway, you can buy him a faux tail so he can swap flies. I’m sure he would appreciate it. I loved Jami’s sweet video. There were no words I could add to all the beautiful sentiments there except that I’m so happy and touched that she has another horse to love. ❤️

I lived in Pennsylvania around the Amish, and yes, they can be very harsh on animals. They worked their horses very hard whether it be plowing fields or pulling their buggies on the roads. I’ve seen many horses get injured on the road.

Thank you both for including us in your beautiful lives 🥰 I live a few miles from probably the biggest rancher in Oklahoma, he lives North a few miles outside of Yukon, OK. He also has many Clydesdales that are used for the Budweiser buggy pulls for all there special presentations. The barn that they live in here was my favorite barn since I was a little girl, it was built in 1936 then remodeled once the new owner bought it. It is such a majestic, beautiful barn for some of the biggest horses I’ve had the pleasure of meeting! If you two ever make it up here, it is well worth your time to visit. They have a website showing the open hours to the public. It’s not even ten miles off of I40! And I wanted to point something out to you. I started watching you way back since Harvey. Watching steady for a couple years. I usually get bored with things I watch on YT and stop watching. I never feel that way with your channel. and I figured out why. YOU are always switching it up, changing things. You get animals like Stella and Carl and now Ronan. Now a whole other adventure starts. Roan and Rita. You always keep it exciting and unexpected. I can't imagine ever being bored with your content. Then you add Jami into the mix, Chef's kiss the two of you.
