This is a re-enactment and not a real syncope episode; however, the heart rate increase from 66bpm to 113bpm is real and what happens to me and many other POTS patients upon standing up. If not remedied, POTS patients can be prone to syncope. Thankfully, I have learned how to mostly prevent full syncope episodes.

To my fellow POTSIES - this is not to make light of our daily struggles! So if this short offends you in any way, I do apologize. Humor (and now helping others) is how I get through my chronic illnesses - if I don't laugh, I'll cry. Much love ❤

Lol my Resting HR is 58 and when I sit or stand I get dizzy and HR increases to 90-130. I haven't been diagnosed with POTS, but I suspect Long Covid is causing it.

When this happens my eyes black out & I get super dizzy 😭 Ive got a doctors appointment soon so I’m hopefully getting tested for POTS bc my heart spikes from 74 Bpm to 130 or 140 bpm after standing 🙃

Same! I usually lose balance and knock into the side wall trying to stand up and try to not fall over making my way to the bathroom then my ears make that sound when I finally sit 😭

I’m so sorry to hear that. They just put me on corlanor. Trying that out before they put a pacemaker in 😓

@@TachyTanya I’ve been put on verapamil but I’m afraid of heading that direction of a pacemaker. I looked at your about and it appears we have several of the same things. I have POTS, a hyper mobile connective tissue disorder (possibly Marfan syndrome), fibromyalgia, small fiber neuropathy, empty sella syndrome, MCAS and a few others. It’s a tough road and have been trying various things for help for over 7 years now

POTS is postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome which occurs when people with POTS stand up or are in a single position for to long and they move which makes their heart rate spike to levels that can make them go into dizzy spells and even faint.

There are lots of illnesses (not just POTS) that can cause your heart rate to increase and or cause you to almost faint. If you are experiencing either of those symptoms, I would definitely check with your doctor!

So hold on my heart rate spiking to 105 when I stand after sleeping isn’t normal? Lol

Hi! It depends on your starting heart rate. Mine is usually in the 50s-60s. If your heart rate increases by more than 30bpm going from lying/sitting to standing, you may want to get evaluated for POTS.
