Hi da5idnz. Thank you for watching my video. Inking does take some time to get good at it. Some of the shaky parts, you can do it with the waffling technique I’ve demonstrated in the video. For smoother mines, move your hand quick and swift. That’s how you get a smooth line. Drawing a line quick will help that. Thank you again for watching. You mentioned in the beginning that you like to keep the chamber of the brush empty. Is there a reason for that aside from personal preference?
@WaldenWongArt
@WaldenWongArt 9 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching my video. You can fill the chamber with if if you like. Keep in mind, any slight pressure squeezing the barrel and more ink will flow out. I don’t fill them with ink and I use the rush like a regular brush that has no ink, just the stick. Still works the same and I have full control of how much ink is flowing from the brush at every moment. Hope that helps.

Great video! Question have you had to ink in a different inking style other than your own for others work. Like for example, Todd Mcfarlanes inking technique is a very complex. So if somebody wanted you to ink like Todd McFarlane, how would you approach the pencils
@WaldenWongArt
@WaldenWongArt Жыл бұрын
Hi alone Angler. Thank you for watching my video. Yes, I have adapted to different inking styles. Most times, I’ll look at the pencil or even contact pencillers to see what style they would like their art to look. And I’ll go towards that direction. It’s one of the things I do well, adjusting to different art styles. I’m fact, I’ve gotten some awards from the Inkell Award for bing a “Most Adaptable Inker”. Thank you for the great question!

Could you explain why you dip the tip of the aquabrush into the paint and don't use the reservoir? What is the difference in the outcome?
@WaldenWongArt
@WaldenWongArt 6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for watching my video. I like to dip the onl as o have full control of how much ink I’m using at all times. I don’t fill the reservoir as somwtimes, too much ink will flow out at a slight squeese. If I work at the studio, I’ll dip it. But when I travel and at conventions, I’ll fill one up and have the ink in the brush pen ready to go. Just so I don’t have to carry a bottle of ink. Hope that explains it. How do you care for the pentel brush, do you wash it after every use, do you use only water, do you wash it during inking once in a while. I have ordered that brush and ink and dont want to ruin it and have to buy another one. Thanks

The brush pen is very low on maintenance. I don’t even wash it at all. They last for a very long time and maintains a nice sharp tip. Hi brother I have a question. As a fellow artist myself I would like to ask you. Did making something like art that we do for fun and because we love it, when you turn it into a job do you lose your passion for drawing does it like convert from passion to a regular job and if so how do you keep the love and passion alive through that?
@WaldenWongArt
@WaldenWongArt 2 ай бұрын
Hi @soundslikecam. Thank you for watching my video and making this comment. I love this question and after reading it, I was excited to respond. I’ve always been drawing since I can remember from Kindergarden class. And haven’t stopped drawing even to today. It started out as a love for drawing and drawing whenever I had time. When it turned into a job, it amplified it more for me as an artist. So many times, I would get so excited knowing I’m going to be working on Spider-Man, Batman, X-Men, Superman, Deadpool and any other characters that I’m offered to work on. Not only that, almost always when I get offered a project to work on, not only am I excited to be working on those characters for that company, I get excited to work with peers whome I’ve grown up admiring as a kid who read the comic books. And now I’m working with them and became friends in the industry. Or how about characters that’s are not as popular, I get excited that I can work on new characters that I have have part to make popular for the future. When I at convention behind my booth, I get to meet so many people who visits my booth to support my work and we get to chat in person. To get to know everyone even just a little. People that has the same interest as me. When people contact me to work on commissions, im always excited to know they admire my work that much to commission me, and I would go the extra mile to make that artwork the best that I can. Never once have I lost passion for drawing. In fact, right now he now as I’m responding to you, I think back in my career as a professional artist, can I still can’t believe how lucky I am to be able to make creating artwork as my career and that it’s lasting so long. Very grateful and very happy to be what I’m going as a professional artist. No dull or boring moment. If you love doing something, you’ll always love it. If you find a job that you love do you, you’ll never work a day in your life. Because you’ll doing what you love and people pay to you do it. I hope that answers your question.

@@WaldenWongArt wow this is a big statement and it really makes me reflect on my self. I've been drawing since I can remember as well unfortunately I traded my skill for music working passionately for 15 years however these days not as frequently it's funny because as an artist there's so much that I'd love to do but I feel like I'm not where I want to be with it I feel like my talent lies within my drawing that's what my mom says because I've picked up the habit of singing which I have no talent in but have been practicing for 4 years straight. I still wanna become a famous artist I just never thought it take so long I haven't. Made it a career and while my family struggles financially I feel like me wasting away barely making music is become difficult. Thus I feel like switching to art to see if I can make a living out of it. But the role remains the same making a living doing what I love which is art in general. It makes me sad that I never had the passion to continue what I do dispite the odds. I also developed schizophrenia and. That might explain the lack of work ethic due to anohenia which I experienced a few months after being diagnosed in 2019 further more I still love art I hope my setbacks doesn't hold me back from realising my dreams and thank you so much for this message it's really an eye opener.
@WaldenWongArt
@WaldenWongArt 2 ай бұрын
@@soundslikecamthank you for the reply. Speaking for myself. When I decided I wanted to be a professional artist, I wasn’t seeking fame or anything like that. All I wanted to do was draw. As that’s what I always loved to do since I was a kid. I didn’t think about how much a professional artist would make, didn’t think about where it would take me, nor think about any fame that would come of it. It was simply, wanting to be able to create art and get published. And then continuing to maintain that art career today and be happy. Which is more important to me than any of the above… simply to be happy. My best advice is to do what you love, then focus on doing that to the best of your ability. Constantly studying other peers to continue evolving every day. Never settle and be content with your craft, always strive to continually improve. If it doesn’t work, confine the path of improvement. Love what you do and put everything it I it. If you love it, then all that time spent on it, will fly by quick. Then before you know it, everything else will fall into place. When you’re happy, everything around you will make you happy. Hope that helps!
