I’ve heard these patches in countless deep house records from the early 2000s. Dont get rid of this baby.

Awesome you still have it. I left a comment about the micro q on another video when it looked like it was missing from your setup
@sapainca6 ай бұрын
i had a Waldorf Q+ Phoenix, very briefly. Later i managed to get a Yellow Q, super cheap, from a London studio where it had never been played and so all the encoders were skipping, i pried each encoder apart, cleaned the discs and got it working . Someone gifted me a stack of Q-Cards so i loaded lots of user presets on those. I really liked the Q from a sound design perspective. It had something like 5-6 motorola DSP vs 1/2 for the Access Virus and there was no aliasing or stepping (unlike with the Virus) . I found it great for making Roland Juno 60/106 chorused sounds. But ultimately, it doesn't have the mix-ready sound you get from the Roland Junos - but it it can do a lot more. Today i'd just get a Roland Juno but if i had the time and the inclination to really program i'd get the Q. All the Waldorfs Wave, Microwave XT, Q , Blofeld have their own tone which is cool.

that bass tone is so warm and lovely. i think galcher lustwerk (probably my favorite producer in the last 15 years) uses one of these.

I had the Q yellow keyboard, I sold it some years ago which I regret, although the encoders started to get a little ‘jumpy’, since then I got the yellow micro Q as I love the Q sound, superb synth.

The FS1R is that synth for me. They're worth a fortune now so the temptation to sell it to fund the purchase of multiple bits of gear is always present, but every time I get it out again I'm reminded that it does the job of literally an entire suite of outboard gear in a single unit rack synth. It's obtuse as all hell to program, but there's just summin about it...proper underrated, I don't even think the FM synth anoraks even get how juicy it is - it excels at physical modelling and subtractive for example, but most people just buy it for the cheesy DX sounds.

I've been a fan of hardware since 1997 and the "poor" sampler-card Terratec EWS 64 XL with max 64MB Ram incl. Akai S2000 import function and it's big brother XXL with the 5,25 boxed microwavePC (a collaboration between Waldorf and Terratec), even more I recognized, that this kind of stuff is part of creativity. Somehow it reminds me of Benassi and the rumour, how a small "mistake" with a loopback created a new mainstream electronic base-sound 😊

In a time where the people were too preoccupied in the hunt for the perfect machine whose presets matched their subjective souls the music stopped. These people who had long bemoaned menu diving had had the small inconvenience replaced with a far more dangerous inconvenience That of endless distraction.

Been watching your channel for about 7 years now...always get excited when a new one drops! Can you explain which synths were playing which parts in those opening songs? Pretty sure the leads were Micro Q? And what were you using for the bass?
@lukeelderkin6 ай бұрын
It's all Micro Q, the synth is multitimbral. That's why he flips between the four patches at 0:45, to show you all the sounds it's producing 👍
