such a great video! I will use this knowledge on the Iridium. and Fairlight wavetables, what a plus!

Your coverage of the Quantum’s FM/Kernel engine is the best I’ve seen. The Quantum is a hard nut to crack into, especially its FM features. Also, your patches sounded great too.

How do the Quantum/Iridium do for traditional basic synthesis out of the box?? The sounds they can produce are really unique for the other supported engines.

Loved the presence of Vangelis & DM in your backgroud. 👍🏻 Yes, the last 10 days were sad for the music. And oh, yes, excellent video, as usual, mate, this Waldorf sounds tasty!

Thanks as always! Yeh.. almost brought the video to a standstill when I put the albums up on the synths and had a wave of sadness hit! Hope things are good with you :D

Hi, Great channel.. I´m just wondering did you keep your Virus after getting the Quantum? I was imagining the Quantum would render the Virus a bit redundant.
@100ThingsIDo Жыл бұрын
Yep I still have the Virus. Its got a very different sound and I love the percussive stuff you can do with the filter and the arppegiator on the Virus that nothing else does :D

What a machine! Sound at 4:25 is similar to my favourite song in Chronos. Almost steel drums at 10:37

I gave Pigments a go, it was very nice but I really perfer hardware if I'm going to put a heap of time into gettting the best from it :D

It sounds great, and I like the wavetable morph used as a modulator. However, I'm afraid you lost me around 10:00 when you stopped explaining what you were doing. You mentioned that the Quantum is powerful and I thought you were going to extend what you'd just done with FM using some other new feature, but it looked to me like you just added a couple more layers. Did I miss something?
@100ThingsIDo2 жыл бұрын
Yeh i don't think I was very clear. I really was trying to keep the video concise and to the point but I had to go deep into FM envelopes in the last part but there was no way to keep it short or focused so if you notice the FM Timbre I created before I add the other oscialltors is a left over from the cut part of the video. You can hear the Operator modulation changing in time right at the start! from there I had it I could have 3 different FM engines per patch and 2 patches as a layer! thats bascially 6 dx7's at once haha! :D
@macronencer2 жыл бұрын
@@100ThingsIDo OK, I see what you were aiming for now. Thanks for the explanation :) Personally I don't mind longer videos with more detail, but I know you have to think of the most typical viewer in your audience, and I understand that.

Only other synth I can think of that can do FM with wavetables is the Dreadbox Medusa with firmware 4.0 installed.. only 3 OP though
@100ThingsIDo2 жыл бұрын
Yeh, I think there is something else but the name of the synth escapes me! :D
@ThePCxbox Жыл бұрын
The ASM hydrasynth and Fave Smith evolvers do FM with wavetables (granted its only the phase modulation kind i think) and tons of software allows you to do FM with wavetables in the same manner, the biggest offender being xfer serum and vital ofc

Thanks! Indeed its a steep learning curve and I'm not sure how hard it would be to start from little knowledge as I've been doing this for so long I've potentially forgotten more than I know :D All good here, hope things are good with you!

@@100ThingsIDo it’s not actually that hard for a noob to get their head around this synth. With great tutorials like this and a passion for twiddling knobs ect it’s very straight forward, and super fun. Waldorf have made it very logical where things should be. I’m loving this synth so much, making the weirdest and coolest sounds. Best toy I’ve ever owned 😊
