Wales Best of the West
In this series about diving & marine life we explore the Welsh coast where we head to two dive sites in North Wales on the Llŷn Peninsula and two dive sites in Pembrokeshire in South Wales. The sites were chosen due to them having diverse range of habitats and species.
Tune in weekly to find out more about the marine life found off the Welsh coast and how the sites change when diving both day and night. We also bring light to new technologies to reveal more about the underwater world.
Episode 4 Stackpole Quay, South Wales
Stackpole quay brings the series to an end. The small cove is situated a few miles south of Pembroke. The stony cove hidden amongst the cliffs of the Pembrokeshire coast is a site full of life and the finger like reefs protruding from the coastline provides unique topography. The reefs provide a home to many species along with the adjacent sand creating suitable habitat for many ambush species. The site also had a fair amount of litter, therefore we undertook an underwater clean to raise awareness of the local underwater clean up charity Neptunes Army of Rubbish Cleaners (NARC).

Well done! Excellent ~ arduous work! Only one addition to add; what seemed like predation upon an anemone by necklace shell(s); sea slugs and other molluscs, often steal the defences of their prey... Lovely stuff !!! :D (y)

cat shark or dog fish ? did you come across the spider crab cages ? normally straight out and rammed full of spider crab

Hi, didn’t get too many spider crabs. Dogfish and catsharks are interchangeable :) we would be - however much of the series was entirely self funded and doing the boat dives may be of interest with some extra support and funding :) something that we would be keen to do 🙏🏼🎥🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Where is the sand located at stackpole to the left or the right of the Quay or towards the end of the head land
