Because i'm in my 60's, 'cause I'm french, 'cause I discovered rugby watching it on a 70's brand new colour-tv in those cold winters at my grand-aunt's with all those cousins playing it in western Paris clubs while I was an expat's son obsessed by football in Spain, 'cause I stopped watching football, 'cause JPR WILLIAMS became the master of our defeats, 'cause Wales had me loving the game even when defeated (so often). I love the welsh dedication to Rugby. I'm sorry for Wales 'cause its my 'rugby mother nation'! You'll do much better sooner than later. Believe it!

I see a great group of lads being catastrophically let down by the coaches and directors of the WRU. The attack was poor under King but atleast we scored tries. But now with the donkey Howley back we're somehow twice as worse and the players looked like they never played a game of rugby in their life! 😂 Also the experiment with Thomas at 10 clearly didnt work last year so why Gatland persisted with it is mind-boggling! Watkins and Tompkins, another combination that clearly wasn't working last year, gatlands solution? Try it again 🫣 Adams Jones has been here for less than 2 weeks and you can already see the contribution he's made to the scrumaging (albiet the referee with absolutely rubbish and gave France everything). Bottom line is that it'll keep getting worse if we stick and Gats and Howley. Also I really dont understand how people keep saying these players aren't good or big enough. Just like Australia, South Africa and even Fiji last autumn, all of France's points were scored through the back of our mistakes. Our work rate and attitude was the only shining light we had but were very quickly let down by the Ill-discipline in defence and awful decisions/basic handling errors in attack. These guys are scoring great trys week in week out for Cardiff/Ospreys/Scarlets and their English clubs but throw them together for Wales and its like they forget what a rugby ball looks like? If this doesn't make the problem any more obvious than it already is then we're totally doomed!

I don’t understand how anyone can defend the coaches! Australia and Italy in the last World Cup were dreadful, both sacked their coaches and you can see the improvement. Nobody can tell me their squads are any better than ours, our coaches are outdated and have not moved on in terms of the game at all. They all have to go and we need new younger fresh coaches and I’d put money on it we would improve. There’s not a team in the world in any sport that would continue with the coaches we have with their record it just would not happen. It’s beyond all jokes now.

43 isn't the problem. Let's face it, that's at the shallow end of our pre-match nightmares. It's the nil. You can't score nil in an international rugby match. You just can't. I thought Wales generally played well against a much better and more experienced side but as you say we offered very little creativity and were far too predictable,. I texted a mate of mine to say France looked like The Harlem Globetrotters (for those who remember them). They seemed to have so much time when they had the ball whereas Wales rumbled from side to side across the pitch until they lost the ball. We just don't have the Sam Warburton, AWJ or Navidi factor these days, especially without Toby Falatau. We cannot keep trying to p[lay Warrenball without the big guys to gain enough territory. It's looking like another Wooden Spoon to me. We need to learn how to win our own lineouts and change our attack tactics if we are to salvage anything this season.

@@TheWelshSportsPodcast That's the most worrying fact that no one seems to be picking up on. In the last 6N, whitewash though it was, we were actually fairly competitive in every match (well, ish) and should have beaten Eng. We were competitive vs Aus down there too (and should have won one if not both tests), but then, come the Autumn, when we think there'll be some marked improvement, it's the opposite, and now we seem to be falling deeper and deeper into the abyss, with one massive defeat after another (Aus then SA now Fra). So not only are we NOT improving from a very low base, we are actually getting worse (as hard as that is to imagine, the current coaching setup is managing it). I'm afraid we will lose to Ita (and I fear it'll be by 10pts+) and it will be another whitewash and wooden spoon, so we have to say thank you to Gats for the good times and bring in a new coaching team asap (if the WRU had any nous they'd already been longlisting potential replacements but what's the chances of them doing anything proactive?!). In spite of the utter shambles that is Welsh rugby, we have to believe that a new setup can do something with the player base to make us more cohesive, imaginative, and ultimately more competitive, and perhaps even start picking up the odd home win. As an aside, I'm afraid I have stopped watching Wales - I think you must be a masochist to do otherwise.

Not suprised at the result but i’m a bit tired of being gaslit about what is right in front of all of us. Yes France are a cut above, but proffesional sides can & do score against them. Yes there were positives, in the same way that a car crash you could say the breaks helped avoid a bigger disaster. Yes the WRU are having issues, so have most other unions but the teams haven’t bottomed out. Yes the regions have issues, so do zebra & benetton, and scottish regions in the past but i don’t feel it got to thos point (only when Italy joined) We lost 43-0, we have better players than this, not at French level, but enough to better. Others things are needed but so is a new coaching setup. Until then i fully expect us to continue with these horrid perfomances.

No attacking plans at all, no dummy/decoy runners etc just ship one pass and run into someone. Lineout and Scrum ok and the light pack did well (but still need a much bigger pack). Ben Thomas not really a 10 but did his best. Poor skills but clueless with the ball in hand.

There is nothing more to be said, other than our attack became so bad in the second half, the players really don't know what to do, they just went backwards. If we attack like that next Saturday we will lose, Wales are very easy to defend against and Italy will do exactly the same spread right across the field and just marshal Wales side to side. The players have lost the ability to win and Italy will know this. I don't blame the coaches for this year's of neglect by the WRU have led this, and players like Thomas and Edwards are not quite ready, their star Will shine but not under Gatland, we will lose next week because there is not enough time to change our attacking shape. Gatland needs to ask himself I'm I doing more harm than good in staying if so then it's time to go.

@Blacksheeps49297 күн бұрын
We all blame Gatland whilst admitting its the WRU s fault. Why pay him off to leave and hire a new coach who will have the same players to deal with. Gatland will bring fitness and discipline which is exactly what young inexperienced players need. He is also a psycologist and will develop these players as well as anyone else. We do need to get over the gainline more in order to be able to attack effectivley and I think Jon humphreys needs to go The Scottish pack improved immediately after his departure. Our forwards standards have been poor since his arrival.. We need a rebuild, I should imagine the WRU know this and would be fools discarding Gatland before 2027 and costing themselves more money. Let him Improve his coaching set up and give him some time with this group . He will get them firing.
@clivesilver4636 күн бұрын
@@Blacksheeps4929 No it not all his fault and what he's done for us is remarkable, but our attack Friday was dreadfull, some of his selection is questionable, Italy looked good against Scotland they have improved, they don't have better quality players than us yet their coach is getting the best out of them Gatland is not, my final point is there has to be a stage where we need a change, we've now lost 13 games how many more can we lose its unrealistic to expect us to lose another 13.
@Blacksheeps49296 күн бұрын
@clivesilver463 totally get your points and they are all very valid. I can see the benefit of binning howley ( don't even know how he wormed his way back in , " jobs for the boys") plus his attack has never been potent as a coach. and humphreys as we are not dominant up front. Have had set piece issues for years so he needs to go too. I don't see the point in paying gatland off and getting another manager in when the foundations will be the same. These guys are humphs and howley are proof that the WRU still needs a good clean up. Who has allowed these 2 bumbling underperformed clowns to remain in place ??? If Gatland can't see this then he should go. But I don't think this is the case, it's more of a case that his hands are tied. This team need more time together. A new attack coach and a new forwards coach.
@stephendavies-hale63487 күн бұрын
The scrum was a lot better, Adam Jones has probably had what? Two or Three training sessions… Question is.. why has it taken so long to act on it? It shouldn’t have taken that long to appoint a coach who has knowledge and has proven to be successful.. Some very questionable decisions from the board aswell right the way to Gats and co’s selections.. for example Jarrod Evans, Morgan Morris, Sheedy, Llewellyn… those four players have so much offer how were they not included?! I appreciate this is just my personal opinion and I’m not a coach, just my two pennies.. BUT….. What is happening to my beloved Welsh team, is actually Heartbreaking.. it is our identity.. who we are. Serious questions and get togethers need to happen.

Seems to me that Wales are predictable and ponderous. Why oh why can't we pick a 10 or 15 who can boot the ball 50, 60 yards to touch for field position. Trying to rumble up field with forwards who can't dominate is never going to work. Wales are tactically too easy to play against. Yesterday all Wales tried to do was contain and were not there to go at it and try and win. Gatland has removed the old Welsh way of playing with fast off the cuff, unpredictable rugby. We need an innovative coach to make selections that suit our players. Sadly, I don't think those in charge have the guts to make brave calls

How many times have we seen Wales within ten meters of the opponents line go through twenty plus phases and not cross the line they cant even do it when they are a man up its shocking and on a similar point when a side loses a man it more often than not means an all most guaranteed five points for the other side but Wales tend to end up conseding a score. The other thing which needs looking at is Wale's inability to keep a lead in the dying minutes of a game they just don't have a clue.

Agree with your analysis, and it is now very dispiriting watching Wales play. Agree the front row looked more solid throughout, maybe that was due to the impact of Adam Jones? I would like to see Dan Edwards starting next game and Ben Thomas at centre. There have been so many changes at centre we need to find some consistency in selection. We keep arguing that they are a young side with little experience, but some players are not getting that opportunity to grow. I rate Ben Thomas but play him in his best position. If Adam Jones has made a difference in the scrum in such a short time then why not bring in a new attack coach. I now feel that beating Italy, and that is going to difficult, is now not enough.

Way to much chopping and changing this welsh team plus a mystery why some are not even in the squad. There's zero continuity at all.. howley is in the dark ages as an attack coach and wales looked a team paralysed playing to orders making it way to easy for french defence as wales kept going latteral making no ground.. wales should have mixed it up with pick up and goes around fringes of rucks to commit more french plus lack of chips over top to exploit all the space in behind blue defensive wall which they did on 2 occasions and regathered which bought wales 20 metres to go again.. wales looked like a team in attack playing stictly to orders with not much room for heads up rugby.. that french defence would have been exploited by the likes of a top 10 like neil jenkins who played flat to the line or biggar or a marcus smith for eng who would have chipped over that wall so much more to exploit the space behind.. the effort of those welsh boys can not be in question as they did not drop their heads and i as a welshman will never stop supporting the national team.. the last thing those boys need is a welsh public turning on them cos welsh fans are not about that as ive experienced dark days watching wales before but you always believe the tide will turn even though its painful to watch.. possitives was the scrum considering the reputation and size of french pack.. adam jones been a great asset to that no doubt.. i just dont think gatlands coaching style is suitable for wales or howley.. its all well and good playing multi phase possession but you got to go forward with it not just latteral.. id like to see edwards start at 10 against italy
