the two scenes you found unnecessary were songs, wow! It's a cultural part of hindi cinema, plus, it gave the audience some really good songs, you will find the first song playing at a lot of weddings too. yes the song Taran danced on was a poor choice, but i think it goes to show how goofy he is and Adi loves it. I agree they rushed the ending, they could've invested in their love story development, but i think this movie is more than JUST a love story, it's friendship, youth, relationships, memories, the dilemmas, paradoxes of life, reality and more.
@sreepradas5886 Жыл бұрын
I agree with Waleska and Efra said.. we missed a bit perspective on the Nainas life and it didnt add anything to the movie. I like hte movie.. whenever these songs come, i just fast forward, it adds nothing to the movie. They could have added more about their connection or romance.
@Azx12345 Жыл бұрын
@sreepradas5886 it was 2013 it makes sense why it had so many songs people used to watch songs on tv and they didn't use to release full songs on tv and most people would go to watch the movie coz of the songs too they were more of a promotion of the movie and ofcourse who wouldn't have wanted to get more songs starring deepika and ranbir that time

Kabira was Bunny's real name in this movie. "Kabir Thapar" remember when Naina addressed him as Kabir while boarding the train. That song was addressing him as selfish and telling him even after getting everything u r still empty. The whole song was for him, to him and on him.

The w'ord Kabira.
@ishantrana8003 Жыл бұрын
@@Bengali_Hindi17 So "Kabir" literally finds its meaning and origin from Arabic language which mean "ever respected" and is one of the name of Islamic god Allah. But in this movie there is a song called "Kabira" and it is dedicated to the main character whose nick name is "bunny" but his name is "Kabir Thapar", as u may have seen that the main actress in the movie calls him by this name initially. There was a saint in India by the name of Kabir whose poems and hymns are famous till date and he used to roam in different parts of india and sang in 5 different prominent languages, he was born to hindu parents, raised by muslim parents and had a Guru through which he attained enlightenment and he never identified with any religion, belief or anything else not even his family...in this movie Kabir Thapar, the character is also a wanderer, he literally wants to see every corner of the world, does not want to stop at all, do not want to identify himself with anything and he is even pursuing it but when he comes back home he realises that even after having everything he is still empty somewhere...that's when the song comes and it addresses his dillema and contradictions that goes inside him addressing him as "Re kabira, re fakeera", fakeera means "someone who does not have anything"....so the songs tells him that "why even crossing 7 oceans outside, even after being ur own god, why u feel empty inside"...these are the lyrics and u can find the meaning of the whole song on google.

The dance song you thought not required was in the movie for following reasons .. First and most important... It's MADHURI DIXIT and any dance move from her even for a minute is to be jumped at... She is the most amazing dancer with fabulous dance numbers to her credit and her face is so expressive and her smile is a million dollar... ( since you guys do music reviews you are not privy to her magic) ... She is goddess to all of us, to all current movie stars.. Male and female.. Who grew up watching her... And so did Ranbeer. He had made it public that she was his childhood crush Then in a dance reality show where he was a guest and Karan Johar and Madhuri Dixit were the judges, he told Karan that it his dream to be paired with Madhruri in a dance number on a big screen once in his life... And karan gave it to him on a platter as he was the producer of this movie... So towards the end of the song, there is a moment where Ranbeer just pauses and looks at her in awe, with love and being in love.. That was not for the guest character madhuri played but that was for Madhuri dixit herself...

Here’s the thing - none of that info is relevant to the movie, it’s more like self-indulgence. The song itself, however, has some relevance, but one needs to pay attention to the lyrics for that, which easily becomes a damn task if the subtitle translations are so simplified. 🥲

In India completion of a wedding takes place in 4 to 5 days or even more. When that scene of dance battle came that was the day of "sangeet" which literally translates to "music", this is generally a day thst comes a day before the actual wedding where everyone just enjoys the folk, traditional and nowadays the modern music and play music with different instruments, sing songs and dance. The scene where u saw Aditi being smeared with yellow color was the day of "haldi", haldi means turmeric , the yellow thing they applied was turmeric paste on the bride and on they do it to the groom too, coz its an antiseptic, improves skin texture and it also works as a perfume too and it also has a lot of spiritual and traditional significance also. Then when bunny took naina's phone teasing her, it was the day where everyone applies henna on their hands called "mehendi" following the day of sangeet and then finally wedding day. These were the ceremonies mostly for weddings in North India, mostly punjabi weddings but all north and south indian weddings are done more or less in time span of 4 to 7 days just the names of ceremonies and way of doing them changes.

What you think " is not added anything to plot or not necessary" is just our traditional approach for films. 1. Madhuri Dixit's dance.. its like ITEM SONG and our movie has long history of having ITEM SONG at least late 90s and 2000s movies always have in it. 2. The Tanya dance : Again it's very relevant to us because every Indian wedding have SANGIT in it. SANGIT means, it's a dedicated function of dance and songs which usually done by friends and family members mostly younger brother and sister. Mostly our families are big still today. So hopefully it will clear about why those things are not unnecessary. BTW love your reaction video&s. I can feel you Waleska...😊

I think what Waleska is trying to say here is that maybe they should have created those scenes in a way that it would have contributed to the fluidity of the story. Also, Western audiences are still not accostomed to Bollywood dance numbers in a film unlike Rick, Korbin ( from Our Stupid Reaction) Jaby Kuay and Achara Kirk ( from Cinedesi. Also these are the ones I know). Like Korbin felt frustrated when he was reacting to Chenai Express that it had been a while and no dance number showed up ( from the beginning until "1 2 3 4 Get on the Dance Floor" came. 😂😂) So they still need time to get accustomed to the songs in the movie and understand how the cultural values are different than the western ones.

@ivy_tae Жыл бұрын
I can see how it might seem unnecessary but huge dance numbers are actually essential to Bollywood movies. They may not do much plot wise but they add that one thing that would put bums on seats in theatres - entertainment! Music marketing is super important for any Indian film. A lot of the times, its the songs that make the public buy the tickets. When this movie was playing in theatres, the cheers were the loudest during the first song. It got people's energies up, especially since Madhuri is such an icon in the industry. So yeah, more than the plot, it's for entertainment and hey, that's what Bollywood is all about!

So the song playing at Aditi's wedding(the one with Ranbir's grand entry) is known as Badtameez Dil and is sung by Benny Dayal. He's an absolutely fantastic singer. He's also known as the Party King of Bollywood. You've got to check out some of his work, especially the song *Kaise Mujhe Tum Mil Gayi* from the movie Ghajini starring Amir Khan and composed by AR Rahman. That song really showed Benny Dayal's versatility. Also, the song playing during the dance competition is known as Dilliwali Girlfriend and is sung by Arijit and Sunidhi(yes Waleska you're absolutely right). All of the songs in this movie are chartbusters and are played at almost every North Indian wedding. Another movies *HIGHLY RECOMMENDED* is Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara starring Hrithik Roshan, Abhay Deol and Farhan Akhtar and directed by Farhan's sister Zoya Akhtar. It's also a feel good movie with hilarious jokes

I loved your reactions and the overall review of this movie. It is infact my all time favorite which is why i was super excited when i saw the notification hahaa. I'd like to add 2 things here.. 1. That song that took place in the brothel was indeed solely done for the cameo of the actress. Her name is Madhuri Dixit and she's a legend. From what i've seen of you, i know you enjoy SRK's work and she has a movie with him. It's 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai' and a classic is 'Hum Aapke Hai Kaun' which is her movie with Salman Khan. (Fun fact: she's professionally trained in Kathak by Sir Birju Maharaj who is well known all over the country for his skill.) 2. The dance battle song was added to showcase the Indian wedding ceremony of 'Sangeet'. It's a celebration which involves a lot of singing and dancing hence it adds an element of fun to the wedding and enriches it with happiness and excitement. I'm not sure if you noticed but throughout the entire rundown of the wedding, they kept going from one ceremony to another, i.e, Haldi, Mehendi, Sangeet etc.. that's why there was also that whole scene of Bunny and Naina being sneaky and trying to see if the groom's side had a good routine planned. It gets competitive between them and the bride's side. Also, i do agree that we should've seen more of what Naina's life was like in the years leading up to the present along with the aftermath of the proposal. (i've seen so many movies and shows lately that skip that part of the story and it bugs meee) Anyways, i don't think you'll see this awfully long comment of mine but if by the slightest of chance you do, keep going! you guys are very entertaining. Much love from India 💗💗

In most indian movies they add a song which seem out of context where an actor (from the movie or not from the movie) dances or are represented sensually or its just a celebration or presentation of the character if he/she is in the movie, we call them "item numbers", the song in the brothel in this movie was one such song. It had no context but it was for the actor and the actress in that song, in this case mainly actress.

One of my go to movies, love it. The 2 scenes that you guys said added nothing to the plot, are what make Bollywood movies what they are. Well done on the review overall.

Not well done at all.. They just ruined whole video at last by saying that. Like who the fuck really asked for their suggestion we love the movie as it is and we only want to see reaction.. We don't want to hear what can be done better.

That white drink what they were drinking in the time of Holi is called "bhang" or "thandai" which literally means marijuana milkshake.
@aurobindogupta2406 Жыл бұрын
the milk type drink in the Holi song is bhaang, its a traditional drink [intoxicative] made from extracts from the cannabis plant.

59:01 the opening scene was a touch of bollywood. It is very bollywood to add something that doesn’t add to the plot. These are things that make it fun and so long. It’s very hollywood to keep the movie to the point and exclude things that don’t add anything. The opening song was a fun cameo by Madhuri Dixit. And I can’t imagine not having those scenes bcoz those songs are ICONIC. Those songs were meant to be introduced to the world. I’m sorry coz I’m very attached to this film and it was a huge part of my childhood and is still one of my comfort films. Taught me things like being in the moment and live life❤❤❤

Dance battle is actually popular in Indian weddings and it's called the "Sangeet" function and there it's a dance battle between the bride side and the groom's side. It's one of the 3-5 ceremonies in (mostly North) Indian weddings.

You should watch Veer Zara and Sitaramam (Telugu movie). Its among the best romantic movies ever made in India.
@Harshiahaha Жыл бұрын
Sitaramam is more on emotional side. For a perfect telugu romcom, I would recommend them to watch something like Ante Sundaraniki or Ashta Chamma or Fidaa. They are such evergreen films. Waleska would love those.

Loved the reaction:) The movie isnt really about their love story. Its about Bunny's journey, how sometimes it gets important to stop after running around chasing ones dreams. Naina gave him that comfort, that home which he didnt find in different countries he travelled to:) When everyone was talking about running and exploring, this movie talks how a life like Naina, subtle peaceful one, is not bad either. Even Bunny learns he needed a pause:)

Don't explain these foreigners have peanuts in their head.. They don't realise how classic the movie is..everything is balanced still They are unnecessary suggestion to look cool 😂
