UPUAN is "chair" in English (sometimes "silya"), which comes from the root word, "upo" which is "sit/to sit" in English. The song refers to those who are seated in power, politicians in general. The rap verses tell the different stories of the plight of the poor and ends it with calling out those seated in power to give attention to the people suffering from rising poverty, implying that they are focused on less important things or even engaged in corruption. That's why it is sung/rapped with passion, frustration and anger. For the ska/reggae song, I am not familiar but it is a message about staying away from drugs and doing better in life. Love you, guys!
@theJonathanSJ6 ай бұрын
5:50 - 8:35. UPUAN by Gloc-9. This song was released in 2009 and the words and meaning still ring true to the Political and Economical standing of the Philippines today. Corruption is so engrained in the system that even though there are some people who are trying to make it better, it is not enough or they couldn't make that big of a difference because the enemy is at every level. It's crazy hoe this song was made 15 years ago now and still very very relevant. At the end I think they tagged another song, sort of like a medley., Or maybe the reggae version actually has that syncopated ending. I'm not sure.

The song that starts at 6:40 is "Upuan" by our respected rapper called "Cloc9." It's actually politically motivated song. Its main aim is to shame and mock the corrupt and greedy government officials of the Philippines. It's a song describing how and why unscrupulous gov't officials are the main reasons why majority of Filipinos are poor and oppressed. It's actually a very good song with powerful message. Wishing for most Filipinos to finally be wiser in voting in the next elections though~ 🥰

As a filipino, that first guy is a standard, it's actually easy to get to that point, for that second clip, nope. Third, that guy, is probably in our top 25%. 2:55 Trust me this hapens reguraly. 3:09 That thing, does not matter here. If you ever hear someone in the Philippines who can't sing, I can asure you, they're doing it intentionally. Even our worst singers can hold a tone. It's a national standard at this point. Fourth guy, ngl, that is your neighborhood uncle. Fifth, now THAT is unfair, she's a pro, ofc she can sing, still love her tho 4:07 as someone with a deafer ear than the other, trust me, if you still have one ear, you can still hear Sixth vid, now that's normal here you can find atleast 3-5 people like that in every classroom or workplace. Thank you, we are INDEED Disney coded in terms of musical capability 7th vid, eeeyyyyyy the neighborhood tropaaaa, sarap ng jamming ah, sali nga ko pre I'm enjoying your reactions more than these videos 8th vid, ahhhh the bros sa kalye, they're always a surprise when you find em 9th bro, NOW HE CAN BE CONSIDERED THE LOCAL YOUNG STAR, I love him 10 th vid, ah, the casual popular singer guy, they're usually nice and hearing how the girls react, he's the green flag at his school fr fr 16:00 can confirm, it does not matter, you can sing, you're accepted into society 16:23 dw, the philippines is a musical country, can confirm that many simp for the drummers too (+basists, guitarist, pianist, etc.) All these singers is actually also kind of a problem cus since everyone can sing, you need to be better than the average populace to move up cus c'mon, imagine competing with the last guy on your roster in an elimination round, even he doesn't know if he'll get through cus there is a 75% chance that there is someone better or atleast on the same level as him in his own subgroup. Either way, I really enjoyed this. Your reactions are stroking my national pride ehehehe
