In Indonesia, every place have their own local languange, like javanese, sundanese, batak, balinese, dayak, ambon, papua, etc. Even inside for example javanese have their difference on dialect, words etc depend on the region. Indonesia have their national language called bahasa indonesia (or simply called bahasa) to overcome the difference on local languange and make it easier to comunicate. Its similar with malaysian since the bahasa taking its root from melayu language but differ because the influence from colonialism era like the dutch, portuguese, spain.. I hope this helping a little. Thanks guys, keep doing the Indonesian Artist. You only scratching the surface..they do really good

Most of us, Indonesian, are polygots. We speak both Indonesian as our official language and our mother language, depends on what ethnicity we are. Sometimes we can also speak other local languages and English as well. We have hundreds of languages here. Most of Indonesian songs are in Indonesian and English. This song is in Indonesian. Javanese is the biggest population but we don't speak Javanese as our official language.

Indinesian National langiage is : Bahasa Indonesia. Most of Indonesian music that you heard is in Bahasa Indonesia. Like what you heard in the songs of Raisa & Isyana, Raisa & Afgan & many more. Ofcourse there are many folk music from many regions in Indonesia. But Indonesia united with one national language: Bahasa Indonesia. So if you come to Indonesia, you can learn a bit about Bahasa Indonesia & in every part of Indonesia they could understand & comunicare with it.

Imho, Isyana Sarasvati has a very beautiful name. Isyana is Indonesian spelling version of Ishana, pronounced as ee-sha-na, a Sanskrit word meaning prosperous; rich; desirable. While Sarasvati is the Goddess of Art, Music, Knowledge, and Wisdom. Well her name definitely suits her so much as now she's become one of Indonesia's most prominent and talented artists. Our names are quite unique and distinguishable. Generally a mixture of local ethnic, Malay, Sanskrit, Arabic, and Western type of names. Btw, most of Indonesian songs are using the national language, Bahasa Indonesia. Bahasa means language, from Sanskrit word 'bhasha'. So Bahasa Indonesia literally means Indonesian Language. Our language mainly has Malay root (so we share the same language root as Malaysia and Brunei, our neighboring countries), added with influences from Sanskrit, Arabic, Dutch, Portuguese, and even English to some extent. We have hundreds of regional languages since Indonesia consists of over seventeen thousand islands, but Bahasa Indonesia is spoken throughout the country as a tool of communication for our unity. Yes, Javanese indeed holds the title of the largest ethnic group in Indonesia, but if we talk about music and songs, we mostly use bahasa Indonesia and some are in English. Judika sang a Bataknese song (the one you've reacted to) was simply because he came from North Sumatra, and it was his tribute to his motherland. But this is not common, because normally Judika sings in bahasa Indonesia. Regional songs like Javanese, Bataknese, Sundanese, etc are only enjoyed by respective ethnic groups locally, not nationally. So when you react on a popular Indonesian music video, I can assure you it's 99% using either bahasa Indonesia or English. No need to be confused. 😊 Sorry for my long comment, haha. Anyhow, I really love your reactions since I believe you guys know much about music. That's how you can evaluate a music video more thoroughly in every aspect, vocally, technically and visually. It's enjoyable to watch. Plus I like your style and wardrobes. So damn cool. You've got me subscribed! 😉

How different are the dialects? Can you understand all or most of each dialect? Are there only a few differences in some words, or they're entirely different? Also, how is it that English is one of the main languages in Indonesia? Totally unrelated, but why haven't I heard of Indonesian restaurants anywhere outside of Indonesia?
@Flickaholic8883 жыл бұрын
@@rosheleu Well I can say most are entirely different. Indonesia has 34 provinces and there are five main islands namely Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan (aka Borneo), Sulawesi (aka Celebes), and Papua, along with other small islands such as the well-known Bali and Lombok. Each provinces, regencies, and cities has their own language and culture. Some may sound and look similar but they're not the same. The island of Java for instance, there are four main languages: Javanese, Sundanese, Betawi, and Madurese. Each language is entirely different with distinct dialect. I'm a Jakartan, citizen of the capital city. I speak bahasa Indonesia as my primary language and I'm familiar with Betawi dialect, the original language spoken by native Jakartan. Also I still manage to understand a bit of Javanese and Sundanese passively. Because of such massive diversity, our former founding fathers declared Bahasa Indonesia as the national language to unite all of us and learning it is compulsory to every citizen of Indonesia. If you live long enough in Indonesia, even though you don't understand any regional languange, you may still be able to differentiate which dialect belongs to which region. Sorry, I've never mentioned that English is one of our main languages. We do study English as international language at school, but in usage it ranks below the national language and regional language. However, in the context of music, yes, some Indonesian singers have songs with English lyrics in order to get international recognition. Even some of them have already joined international labels. About Indonesian restaurants outside Indonesia, it depends on which part of the world you're from. Because apart from South East Asian countries, Indonesian cuisines are also quite famous in countries like Australia, Netherland, and Korea. Even now there are quite a bunch of Indonesian restaurants in the United States. You just need to google it. And some of our national dish like rendang, nasi goreng, satay were included among the list of the most delicious foods in the world by credible international reviewers. I'm not trying to be overproud but that's a fact. You have to try those dishes someday. Heavenly delicious. 😋😊

@@Flickaholic888 thanks for your detailed response. I just gathered that English is also a main language since you guys are very fluent at it. I was born in the Philippines and had most of my primary and secondary education there before we migrated to US over 30 years ago. I'm very intrigued by Indonesia after i heard your music from this channel, thanks to Waleska and Efra. I also watched a couple of Indonesian movies on Netflix. You guys speak Indonesian mixed with English, just like his Filipinos speak Taglish, mixing English phrases within Tagalog, our main language. I've also seen videos of language similarities between Indonesian bahasa to some Filipino dialects, really considered languages since there are really only about less than 5% similar words between each language, just like how Indonesian and Malay would have probably up to 5% similar words to Tagalog or the other regional languages. If it weren't for colonization of our countries, our islands may have been separate countries or maybe even part Indonesian group of islands. If it weren't for Spain, I think Philippines would've been mainly Muslim. Now they are only about 10%-15% and part of the southern main island closest to Indonesia. And Philippines was also a US territory at one time that's why English became the medium of teaching and the second main language of the country. Spanish was all but forgotten and really i don't believe it was widely spoken throughout the regions. Anyway, I'm very curious to learn more about Indonesian culture, cuisine, etc. I'm gonna look for some restaurants in the area. There are Malaysian restaurants here but not Indonesian. Regionally and culturally speaking, were like cousins. And apparently land of good singers and musicians as well. I think it's the humidity that helps vocally, haha.
@Flickaholic8883 жыл бұрын
@@rosheleu My pleasure. ☺ I can't say English is one of our main languages. Unlike Filipinos, Indonesians rarely use English in our daily conversation. We speak English only to foreigners, or at educational and working places where English is required. But yes, many of us understand English to some extent, especially our younger generation speaks English a lot more. I admit I wasn't exposed much to Philippines' music world. The only Filipino singer I knew was Christian Bautista because he was very famous in Indonesia. But last year I came across a song called Ride Home. I instantly cried, "Omg, this is my kind of song!". Later I realized it was a song sung by Filipino band called Ben&Ben. From that moment I've been a fan of Ben&Ben. ❤ And now thanks to Waleska and Efra, I'm starting to know more about Filipino singers. And yes, I think The Philippines and Indonesia are on the same level music wise. We both have tons of great singers and musicians to rock the world. Singing is in our genes. 😉 Do you know that thousand of years ago, The Philippines and Indonesia were one big nation along with other South East Asian countries? It was the era of ancient kingdoms. That's why some words in Filipino are similar to Malay language, albeit a slight difference in spelling or pronounciation. So deep inside our DNAs, we're actually brothers (or cousins as you mentioned). But then catastrophes, war, and colonialism divided us into separate nations. Now talking about Indonesian restaurant, actually Indonesian and Malaysian cuisines are almost alike. We generally use the same kind of spices in our dishes. Even though rendang was originated from West Sumatra (Indonesia), Malaysia also has their own version of rendang. If Malaysia has nasi lemak, Indonesia has nasi uduk, similar kind of dish but different ingredients and toppings. So if you can't find any Indonesian restaurant in your area, you may as well try Malaysian dishes to taste a glimpse of Indonesian delicacy. 😊

The first sing is Raisa & 2nd is Isyana, their solo but people make rumours and i think some fans "fight" say Raisa is better than Isyana or Isyana better than Raisa.. so Raisa & Isyana sing this song to proof it they are friends, i think when Raisa get married, Isyana was there too. The lyrics is : Jangan Sia-siakan waktu tuk Membenci (Don't Waste Time To Hate) Satukan Tujuan Kita Hilangkan Segala Perdebatan yang Sia-sia (1 make it our goals, eliminate all the pointless debate) Well some kind like that in English.. sorry my English not so well

'Anganku Anganmu' means 'my dream and your dream'. There was one time when Raisa's fans and Isyana's fans were fighting on the internet. They think their favourite is better than the other. Fan wars spread on the internet as if it's is wrong if both Isyana and Raisa chase the same dream to be a singer. So, Isyana and Raisa made a song about this issue. Here is the translation of some of the lyrics of the song: Spreading words that hurt people without any reason.. we are heartless Every word is a reflection of your heart, so make it meaningful Don't waste your time hating others, but let's have the same goal, to get rid of pointless arguments, to understand that heading towards the same dream is not a problem as long as it's YOUR dream Since then I never see the fans fighting anymore because they know that Raisa and Isyana don't mind chasing the same dream, so why should they fight hahaha.

FYI, Indonesia has literally alot of Dialect. But for daily conversation we use our national language Called Bahasa Indonesia. We use dialect when we meet people from the same Tribes. When we are in our own hometown. But, even when we are in our hometown we will use Bahasa Indonesia, for formal ocassion. We use Bahasa Indonesia to talk with other tribes. So, Indonesian basically bilingual: we speak our own dialect and Bahasa Indonesia in daily basis.
@arhaen3 жыл бұрын
maybe the correct term is regional languages, because if it's about dialects we still can understand them to some extent, for example medan indonesian still can understand jakarta indonesian. but if it's about regional languages, for example i as a bataknese can't understand javanese or sundanese.

I just want to inform. Every Indonesian's song mostly in Bahasa Indonesia, with regular Bahasa Indonesia's accent/dialect. And Javanese is another language with so different word, meaning and accent/dialect from Bahasa Indonesia. Javanese basically is 1 of 700 local languages that usually used by Javanese people who lives in Java regions. But all of Indonesian's speak Bahasa Indonesia in every city, even though they can speak their own local language based on which ethnic group their family came from. Mostly every Indonesian's people is bilingual or multilingual without learning other country languages. All of that languages 100% Indonesian's authentic local languages. So if you want to learn Indonesian's language and accent/dialect to sing Indonesian's songs, you can start learning from Bahasa Indonesia. Stay safe guys ;)
