West thinks completely different. They do not like indian music that much. This is why you see many of them starting to react to indian music but later switching on to reacting on south east asian or european music. West doesnot have a good perspective of indian subcontinent. You will see them appreciating arabic and even japanese but never sanskrit or telugu. They will cultural similarity with iran but never with india even though they do acknowledge the indo european thing. Religion, politics everything has its share in shaping them. Aestheticism is also a big thing.

Listen to random Indian people singing covers of popular Indian songs any language. Start with popular covers, obv. In India, if someone claims to sing, it's a given that they are talking about acapella, unaided singing. If they can't sing acapella, they are not singers. Every singer in India has to prove themselves. Artists relying a lot on autotune and heavy post-processing are usually frowned upon. In case of classical music, Tanpura (or a drone) is usually used as an accompaniment, every other instrument comes in only if you know how to sing.
