My only question is, can you insert the temp. probe into the wet soil. Thank you.
@leisurelylogan Жыл бұрын
Yes. I usually keep the soil moist when using the temperature probe. I am guessing that it is fairly weather resistant but I don't think it would be good for taking water temperature. Thank you for watching and leaving a comment.

Just to verify, this setup did work for both mats?

Correct. The controller is basically just on and off, so the reading on one probe controls both.

can I line that mat on the inside of a 5 gallon pot to keep roots warm?
@leisurelylogan5 ай бұрын
It rolls up, so I guess you could go around the edge of the pot with it. I'm not sure if it would help a lot that way, just because he doesn't put off a lot of heat, just surface heat. It's not like a radiator. Also, even with it being water resistant and such, I'm not sure it would be a good idea to keep it in the dirt for a long period of time.

I just received my Vivisun 'Heat Mat and Digital Thermostat Combo" and I can't get the numbers to stop blinking or to change it to read as Fahrenheit. Is there a trick or should I assume that it is a faulty device?
@leisurelylogan2 жыл бұрын
At 7:08 when you are not in set mode, up for Fahrenheit, down for Celcius. The Set button should take you in and out of set mode for determining the temp you want to keep it at.
@jayt.223 Жыл бұрын
i hold the set button for 3 seconds, scroll to my temp then try to click to set it and it won’t. so i hold for 3 seconds. It sets, but it does not heat up at all. I waited 30 minutes still won’t heat up. all the dials work

Is the thermometer inside the dirt? Is the "heating" light on? Are you saying that you don't see the numbers?

@@jayt.223 I would have to test out my pads to see if they can get up that high. But, it sounds like they are working, but just won't get really hot. You might want to try moving the thermostat around to see if that makes a difference. Vivosun has a reptile/terrarium pad, which they advertise differently than the seedling pad I am using. I don't know if that really makes a difference, because they get up to the same temperature. But, it might be heating differently to handle the open space. You might want to see if you can get some help from Vivosun or return the pads to get new ones.

what you using to conect 2 heatmat in one thermostat? ist safe?
@leisurelylogan3 жыл бұрын
Yes. It is a standard electrical splitter. The temperature controller just turns that plug on and off, so a splitter is safe as if you were using for any other powered cord connection.

Can you use the thermostat for a zoomed heat mat
@leisurelylogan3 жыл бұрын
Since the thermostat isn't connected to the heat mat, you should be able to use a Zoo Med or any other brand heat mat. The thermostat just takes the heat reading from where you place it and turns off/on anything power connected to it when the temperature is reached.

The thermostat does 5-42 C° / 40-105 F°. The mat itself is just on or off, I think. I don't think it has different degrees of heating.

Ground temperature for outdoor planting is usually around 50 F, so anywhere over that should do fine. I think peppers like much warmer.
