Tom, Excellent episode that makes most of us drool! I do have a tie-in with the liberation of the Browning factory in Herstal, Belgium. My dad was in the 99th Infantry Division during WWII. The Division would have been stationed a few miles east of Herstal in December of 1944. Unknown to the GIs in the Ardennes, several top American generals (Mark Clark, Hap Arnold, William Simpson, Bedell Smith, among others, had made arrangements to come to Herstal to be fitted for new Browning Superposed shotguns. They were to come to the Browning factory around December 18th. The generals were being offered a greatly reduced price for the shotguns. The only problem was, nobody told the Germans and they attacked the Ardennes on December 16, 1944 during The Battle of the Bulge. Being generals, they decided to postpone the fitting for the Superposed until after the Bulge was stopped. No GIs we’re offered the deal on the shotguns but there was a USO show the night of December 16 in Liege, Belgium starring Marlene Dietrich. Because Marlene Dietrich had left Germany in the 1930’s and was critical of Hitler and the Nazis, there was a bounty on her head. She was put aboard a transport plane and flown to England as quickly as possible. The generals didn’t get their shotguns and the GIs didn’t get their USO show. Thanks again for the gun show. We are coming up on the 80th anniversary of the start of the Bulge.

I stupidly traded off a 98%+ US&S... for a new Kimber... oops... still have the Kimber as a reminder... thankfully it was to a late friend and his son cherishes it.. so it's OK.

What's with the angled slide serrations on the National Match 1911A1? Those don't look at all correct.
@bjbarr5Ай бұрын
That US&S serial number 1049140 should not have a P proofmark on the top of slide. Someone appears to have created from separate parts.

I’m really interested in the national match! I think I have one. Who is the leading “know it all” of NM Camp Perry pistols? I’d really like to find more information on my pistol.

Why do some of the Hi-Power have a sorta thumbnail indentation on the right side of the slide and others don't?
@Panzermeister36Ай бұрын
It's for ease of pushing out the crosspin that holds the slide onto the frame.

I want the Femaru If it's in good condition! The T series hi powers are pre 1969 imo. From what I see the later T series aren't as nice. You should do a video on the T series vs the C-series

Ok cought your first mistake with the WW 2 1911 doesn't have wood grips which is common knowledge and more so for a collector like you
