Jacob from Boehm farms has one of those little EZ trail wagons. I think he said that they were used for display at farm shows. He actually used his for hauling grain to a co op, and he really got a reaction from the people working there.

As much as I love you videos on fixing the equipment the newer setup would should save you time which is the one thing we never can make more of. If you can do less repair and harvest quicker you have more time to spend with the family which at the end is priceless

Don't spend big money until you have a good crop year. (Interest rates are bigger factor these days too). I think getting a TR98 is good idea because they are fairly inexpensive, but keep the TR96 in running order for backup. I would also recommend that you get a Bish adapter ($2000) to run Deere heads as another backup plan. (They will work on both a TR96 and TR98). If there was a serious problem with your NH head, you could quickly find a JD head to get back in business. If you had to get a JD head, it would easy to resell, or use on a future JD combine.

Spend the 30-50 and get what works for you. If you go to a 12 row head, you’ll be sitting and waiting for Tim to dump wagons. Have the bigger combine running a 6-8 row head, plenary of power to clean and not be running max power so you don’t drown your current infrastructure. Otherwise you need a hopper bottom, drive over pit and probably a wet bin to feed the dryer if you go 12 row head

50 BUSHEL GRAVITY WAGON Description 50 Bushel Gravity wagon measures 4' wide, 6'6" long and 57" tall. Built farm tough, just like the big ones. Hauls and “self unloads” any bulk granular free-flowing material such as grains, feed, pellets, nuts, coal, citrus, or “whatever flows, goes!”

Wesley, work on your existing combine as needed to make it reliable and operate efficiently. Purchase heads that will make it and you more productive (8 or 12 row). Once this year's crop is in the bank, evaluate what would be prudent for next year.

@odlsc87

He would, his combine is actually in really good condition. He talked about it in another video. The problem is everyone has stopped supporting the headers for his combine, so he can't get any parts to repair his headers. Even aftermarket their is no support for the headers his combine uses. Even if he found decent headers for his current combine he has no way of fixing them if he has a breakdown. That's the issue he has and why he's looking for a newer combine.

Ran a TR 98 for 20 years with a 996 6 row corn head. Was a good machine, I don’t think I’d want a 12 row hanging on the front of one though, just didn’t seem like it would be enough machine for the head, neighbors tried 12 rows on there CR9060’s and switched back to 8 as well. Spallenger Combine bone yard is where we would get parts for ours.

With how long you keep and maintain your equipment a good used under 10 yr old combine makes sense like a jd 680. You and map you yields and see where in a field production is down and see what is happening with soil tests. Making the most out of your time with the limited staffing you have is optimal. Less time wrenching is better. And a jd you can get most parts next day. 250k spread out 10 years is 25k a year. It's all about profit. Being down costs money and time

See a few 98’s and 99’s on tractor house with under 3k thresher hours. If you step into a larger combine you pick up the ability to run 2 thus you cut harvest time down while reducing the hours per machine, or you have a backup should the primary go down. One of the 98’s even had a grain platform for under 30k. That could be a worthwhile investigation. Paid off owes you maintenance and upkeep only. Not paid off means you are dependent on yields. Not enough yield, and you are spending money to loose money.

New combine, new heads, new building, new grain bins, new grain carts. Your starting to sound like Cole. 😂, Probably be better with moderation, newer used, and invest any extra in grain handling or storage as needed. Can you store grain in your existing buildings and move it with your existing trucks and trailers, if you get the equipment to put it in Bulk bags? Can you store grain in sea cans and sell it directly overseas for more return? Wishing you and your family the best.
@Andy-ix2ox
@Andy-ix2ox Жыл бұрын
TR 98 is probably the best option when you dig into the numbers, in fact you could probably buy two just to have a backup and still save 200 grand, truthfully you need to keep your investment down as it will probably be more profitable to invest in more storage than a combine, it would reduce the need to be constantly moving stuff during harvest and free up time to actually harvest, I know that storing stuff is expensive and doesn’t always pay but it usually does and if you’re not a gambler then you’re in the wrong game.

Shame 10 row aren't popular. Little gravity is great for pigging and shoveling stuff like cracked grain into. Its also great for hauling sand in to your bedding for small dairy work that isn't enough for a skiddoo. Its mostly a kid's toy for toy farms. Saw one used with a golf ball collector rig once back in the 80's, that makes sense because they can bring em back up and serve buckets from it.

Buy nice or buy twice. Move up to a CR. CNH drops support for all their equipment much faster than anyone else. It will happen to TRs eventually. They dropped TXs over a decade ago. Also most CR/CX headers can be adapted down to TR/TX by installing side plates on the header and adapting the hydraulics, so perhaps you could upgrade headers before the combine.

love the TRs We ran two 99s had one blow a hydraulic line and burnt up and couldn't find any decent low hour ones any more so sold the other 99 and moved into a CR we bought a 35 foot grain platform with it. We had just updated to a 996 corn head and there is a fab shop in Indiana the converted the face plate to fit the wider feeder house of the CR. now after running both I would not go back to the TR the cab is a lot better on the CR less moving parts just a dream to run the unloading auger is better I always hated the flip over auger on the TRs. the only thing I miss about the TR is the shortness of the machine but you adapt.

That probably sounds about right for the whole setup price.... think we spent $300k on a used low hour CR9070, used 76C pickup head, used 98C narrow row 12-row corn head, and a used 74C flex head... but then grew tired of the performance of the 74C and replaced it with a new macdon head (so tack on an additional $50k) Those prices are from 12 years ago. Probably an equivalent (8.90, pickup head, corn head, flex head) i'd guess at least $400k starting if all good condition used equipment.

Tr combines are real good combines and i wish they still made them but how much money do you throw at tr combines to just turn around in 5 or 10 years and forced to upgrade because theres no parts.... I was in your same position upgraded to cr and kept the tr while it still works to have as a backup.

Tr98 has a nicer cab because of the electric controls and if you want to cannibalize your tr96 that'snot a bad move considering you wont get much for it. A six row corn head with a cart will take off alot of corn plus you dont have to take the head off to go down the road. I have 30ft macdon on my tr97 and it just eats everything and it's nice when you get those Grey days where nothing will feed and keep harvesting you may have to slow down but your still harvesting is my point.
