Vielen vielen Dank, dass Du dieses Dokument mit uns teilst. Eine Produktion, deren Qualität heute noch, nach 45 Jahren, nicht nur bestehen kann, sondern unter all den mediokren "traditionalistischen" oder verkopft-dilettantischen "Regietheater"-Verfremdungen ziemlich einzig dasteht. Und obzwar anfangs wüst verteufelt und verdammt, schaffte sie es einfach durch ein Team von "Könnern", zu überzeugen durch Schlüssigkeit und durch ein durchdachtes und durchdacht *umgesetztes* Konzept. Keiner der "Ringe", die ich kenne, kommt auch nur annähernd an den Wagnerschen Chereau-Boulez-Ring heran, v. a. was die Personenregie betrifft!

Das sehe ich auch so, obwohl ich die Gleichbesetzung von Loge und Mime für nicht überzeugend halte, auch nicht das im Käfig gehaltene Vögelchen, welches im Wald vom Baum gepflückt und zur Wegweisung freigelassen wird. Aber das ist so wichtig nicht. Für mich muß der Vogel frei sein von Anfang an.

@@susannevollmer2347 Hallo Susanne, dass Zednik sowohl Loge als auch den "SIegfried"-Mime singt, hatte ja keinerlei Ursachen in einer wie auch immer gearteten Dramaturgie, sondern lag schlicht darin begründet, dass die Verantwortlichen UNBEDINGT Zednik als Loge haben wollten - und wenn Du Dir v. a. Zedniks schauspielerische Gestaltung anschaust, erklärt sich das ja von selbst ..... Loge als Riff Raff LOL!! Und auf ihn ganz als Mime verzichten - hey, wer wollte denn das??? 😉 Also da gibts keinen Zusammenhang außer eben einen besetzungstechnischen. Und das mit dem Vögelein sehe ich so, dass nach den ganzen Manipulationen Wotans (siehe den Ehekrach in der Walküre!!!) auch noch das kleine unschuldige Vögelein manipulativ da in den Wald gestellt wurde, um genau zur rechten Zeit am rechten Ort zu sein .... tja, wer das Vögeli da wohl hingestellt hat? Der Alte konnte es halt wieder nicht lassen .... Von wegen "Zu schauen kam ich, nicht zu schaffen". Haha. (Lustig war, dass das Vögelo öfter mal gezwitschert hatte, wenn es "schweigen sollte"!) Aber ich denke, wenn wir mit ansehen, was in den letzten fast 50 Jahren aus dem Waldvogel alles wurde, sind diese Szenen für mich zumindest von einer einmaligen, nostalgischen und kitschfreien Romantik, die leider keiner mehr hinkriegt, egal ob der Ring nun mal wieder in einem großbürgerlichen Environement spielt oder von Wesen in Feinrippunterhosen bevölkert wird .... LG!

I started working on the video and I changed my mind, since it would put a lot of effort for me to work on the .srt to make the subtitles, since I have edited various parts of Walkure to add context into Wotan's Farewell. I have already made the video with comments in screen (in spanish) so I don't think I will take the time to change every comment and subtitle to other languages. Thank you though, your work is neat!🥰

This opera is where Rachael von Wagner (as I teasingly call her) hits the stage, and world culture, running at full creative and shocking speed. Here is where she paints, at astonishing psyche-seducing and ravishing levels of musical and psychodramatic energy, the supreme dynamics between matriarchal and patriarchal energies. Most especially between the world-views that each ever-swirling planetary energy has of the other. This is Rachael's concretising of Hegel's silly abstractionism, and it is done in harmonically revolutionary, delicious sensuous-erotic "drenching monsoons and heavenly rainbows" of love and poetry and music. Here we hear the voice of absolute (perhaps unparalleled) genius, and of those transcendental female forces that spoke through him, from the collective Jungian Buddhist life-energies, from the divine hearts of our polytheistic goddess, and our female pantheon of lovers and protectresses of all organic being on our sacred Gaia-Erda-Earth! Athena and Aphrodite and Artemis and Gera, Isis and Gaia and Nut and Hathor and Ma'at, and Kali Ma and Devi and the Durga and ferocious Sekhmet! Admittedly somewhat translated into a Norse mythological context. The hyper Freudian scene that Rachael paints, of tomboyish goddesses who fuck back to life the fallen heroes from masculine rampaging battles, so they can defend their ultimate patriarchal father figure, in his utterly misguided ego-fortress in heaven, is utterly and intendedly provocative and wickedly compelling. All with a view to the Daddy-god fucking his daughters in gratitude! Clever Rachael as always. Love andrea

Really enjoyed Karajan's movie version of Das Rheingold for the fact that it was visually authentic to the norse/germanic myths that The Ring is based on. This performance is great but I was immediately taken out of it by the costuming. Fucking 3-piece suits? C'mon. Why can't I find a version of Die Walkure where they actually look like the myths they're depicting? Will never understand the need to "modernize" myths. It's like putting on a performance of Lord of the Rings with everyone wearing t-shirts and converse.

I really didn’t find this all that distracting. The directing was phenomenal. Usually in productions, they usually don’t know what to do with the Rhinemaidens. I don’t think Wagner himself or Wieland Wagner had a problem with a sort of “industrialized” set. It fit in with the universal themes of powerful beings exploiting less powerful ones, the Nibelungs in the mines, “class” antagonism. The colours seem consistently monochromatic and they kept the Valkyrie rock and a pretty “traditional” look for the Valkyries at least. This is so tame in comparison to these embarrassing Eurotrash productions, which distract from some very talented performers. I can just hear Wieland Wagner’s hoofbeats everyone someone walks out in a red mini cocktail dress on a Wagner opera set. I too like Karajan’s set. It reminds me of Fritz Lang’s series of it for some reason.

The Best Ring ever is Solti's Ring. Boulez's version SUCKS. Janowski with the Dresdner Staatskapelle and the two MET cycles are much, much better.
