Even people who never played the game can take a look and have a really good idea of the social inequality of this city, how there are flying cars and everything but an absurd amount of people living on the street, how even they have access to cyberwear(although just basic stuff) and it also shows how disconnected with death this city is since we can see a splash of blood just left there on the ground. Man, they give Night City so much freaking CHARACTER with just this short montage. It really makes it stand out as a unique and compelling location, and really adds to the verismilitude. So many other anime, scifi and fantasy, should really learn from this. Too many of them take place in generic cookie-cutter worlds that feel like minimal-effort video game cut scenes. I know this anime is based on an IP that has a 30+ year history of development, so they already had a rich background to draw on, but I really appreciate the extra effort taken here to really showcase it.

The think that I love about cyberpunk is that the portrayal of night city can easily be any cosmopolitan city in the American continent but with steroids, me leaving my home and looking at the amount of homeless crazy people, the opulence next door to the most absurd poverty, the apathy of the citizen towards the bizarrednes of their ambience, everything resonates with my own environment. Every time I see night city, in a very dark way, it hits home.

For as colorful and poppy as Trigger made this world, it's actually so lore accurate. This world is extremely dark and you constantly learn worse things about it. It's like if humans in The Last Of Us coincidentally had a cyber-technological renaissance as shit hit the fan.

I decided to follow Davids route in-game, which was actually a lot of fun. Right when he leaves the megabuilding, it's just a straight walk to the station. And then everything gets kind of strange. The closest station to the city center and Arasaka tower would be the memorial park metro. We then see him going across a crosswalk which actually faces away from the center in the opposite direction. The next under the overpass scene is on the opposite side of the street with the crosswalk which would make David turn back around towards the metro, or make a really big circle outside of the center (the second putting him walking in the right direction under that overpass. When walking to Petrochem David is actually walking from the other side of the building away from Petrochem based on the location of that overpass he walked under. so at some point he walked away and then turned around and walked toward the building. The next scene where he's looking up at the fish with the Militech building to his right, and the Arasaka building to his left, is once again walking away from the Petrochem building, meaning he did a 360 since the overpass (walking away, towards, away) The next Stair scene should be a floor above, looking at the H buildings between the Petrochem building and the Militech Building. He looks up to see Lucy on the left side of the staircase, (which is actually really close to that glass panel, He then runs to the opposite side of the staircase to look out over the city and for her, as matched with the two spinning orange cars. *After this video ends (Still on his way to school)* He runs to the right of the circle, ending up on the east side We see him standing on one of the elevated walkways at the top, looking at the Arasaka building, which means he either when back down and looped around to get on the correct Walkway, or he just keep running North and went up the walkway a little bit to look at the building. As the scene skips to him at the Academy, He would have walked back east again (or if he looped around, continues to walk east) and continued down two levels, then took a left towards the building entrance. It was fun tailing him even though a lot of the route is opposite of the correct direction, or looped around a bunch. I like figuring out which spot he was at and which direction he was moving.

Really good show, really good ending. Normally when people say "the pain is real" or something like that about a show, it's an overexaggeration; here, it absolutely applies. They built these characters up so well, solid writing.

[SPOILERS] I love how this entire scene is contrasted later on in episode 2 after David loses his mother and he’s shown to be walking around the city in a depressed and dejected state. He even stops and looks down over the edge at 0:14 in the next episode as if he’s contemplating suicide and even gives a large sigh after jumping down as if he’s disappointed that the fall didn’t kill him. If it weren’t for him meeting Lucy and then Maine’s crew, I wouldn’t be surprised if he took his own life after a few days.

Is it a stretch that at 1:15 the billboards at the background looks like it foreshadows David punching the bully? Or how he walks towards the left side like he's leaning towards becoming an edgerunner?

The fact that David’s apartment is a carbon copy of V’s since they live in the same style megabuilding is so cool to me. Night City in the show is 1:1 to the game. So you can actually go and visit all these places David went. Even though you can only view the exteriors of most buildings.
