Walk with me | Ep. 02 - Udaipur, Rajasthan | Lake Pichola and the Amazing Jagdish Temple | India

[e-mail] | Udaipur, Rajasthan, India | Dec, 2023: This video starts at the Gangour Ghat in Udaipur with exquisite views of the Lake Pichola. This is the most famous ghat along this historic lake around which the city of Udaipur was built in the mid 1500s. Udaipur is a city defined by its lakes and therefore is also famously called the city of lakes. Interestingly, all these 7 lakes of Udaipur city are man made lakes.
We spend quite some time relaxing and walking along the Lake Pichola here at Gangour Ghat. And from here we venture deeper into the Old City or Walled City of Udaipur. Our next stop is the 400 year old temple called Jagdish Temple. This temple is truly breathtaking with its fine carvings on stone and its grand architecture. The vibes of this temple are peaceful, spiritual and calming and we spend quite some time taking in the views and experience. We stay at the temple till early evening with the sun about to set.
Next, we start walking along the lake to another beautiful ghat along Lake Pichola. This one is called Ambrai Ghat. By the time we reach the sun has almost entirely set except for its faint flow in the night sky. This darkness reveals another side of the lake and of Udaipur. The lights from the City Palace and from various other historical buildings all reflect in the dark water of the lake to create a breathtakingly beautiful experience. We spend quite some time walking along the Ambrai Ghat taking in the views and relaxing our tiredness away.
From Ambrai Ghat we come back to where we had started from - Gangour Ghat. At this ghat we explore another famous historical building called Bagore Ki Haveli. But because it is quite dark already we only get to attend a famous cultural show at this Haveli. The show is quite rich and entertaining and depicts various folk arts and dance forms of Mewar and of the broader Rajasthan. The video ends here.
