The injured Walker Buehler made his return to professional baseball with a rehab start in Oklahoma City and Humm Baby Prospects has footage of every pitch.
In August 2022, Buehler underwent his second Tommy John surgery in his life. Immediately after the Dodgers drafted him, he underwent the first. The one last year was a result of a bone spur in his elbow cutting into the ligament.
As soon as Buehler knew he needed Tommy John surgery, he was determined to pitch in the major leagues during the 2023 season.
Since Buehler's starting debut in 2018, he has performed outstandingly in crucial games. During the infamous game 163 of the season against the Colorado Rockies, Buehler as a rookie made a name for himself. During the 2019 and 2020 postseasons, Buehler played a major role in LA's success.
The Dodgers would undoubtedly love it if Buehler would be able to contribute in some way during this postseason, as long as he suffers no setbacks while on his rehab assignment.
Buehler is trying to make history with his fast recovery from Tommy John surgery. The average recovery time from Tommy John surgery is eighteen months. He will be on the mound at AAA within twelve months of his surgery. If he is effective and pain free, Buehler will pitch for the Dodgers this season.
Buehler could be a big boost for the pitching staff. This year, pitching has been the Achilles Heel for the Dodgers. Lately, the pitching has done better than earlier in the year. Buehler could be the missing link in the starting rotation.
