Very useful for a number of my hobbies. I use these on site, when in the workshop or doing diy at home/yard and I may need something from the house, when fishing and I need some bait or item from a friend at the next peg etc - like I said, very useful! Great review Peter.

Here is a comment from someone who has seen this video on a woodworking blog.... "Hi Peter. Great review. Weirdly we have exactly the same radios and bought them from the same outlet. We find them so useful. Mobile phones don't work around here so if one of us is out on the croft we can still communicate. Or if I'm in the workshop with the radio on! my brew doesn't go cold when it's been made for me! Also useful for when we are driving in convoy when we have visitors, so we can point out the tourist sites/interesting things for them to see." Peter

Hi thought I'd mention you neglect the fact that you can only communicate for 60 seconds at a time, other than that great review I bought the same radios nearly two years ago for my daughter she and her friends love them!

I have a set of T80 Extreme walkie talkies a little over a year ago and they have worked find until today. Now when I press on the PPT button or the Call Button on one of them (Set 1), it rings on the calling set (Set 1) but nothing is heard on the receiving/called set (Set 2), and when I speak into Set 1 (with PPT) pressed, nothing is heard on Set 2. However, when I press on PPT or the Call Button on Set 2, Set 1 ring or hear nothinh. The channels are correct and both set fully charged. Is this a setting issue or a defect issue?

Hi Thilina, If you find a decent Motorola dealer they will help you for sure. I doubt whether there is a fault with your kit at all and a dealer will be able to press a few buttons and get it going again in no time at all. Peter

Hi . I would using this Motorola as motorcycle group intercoms. Do this walkie talkie have voice activation feature? Thank you
@NewBritWorkshop8 жыл бұрын
Hi Sean, Although the radio can be used for auto transmit by detecting a voice or sound that radio cannot receive calls whilst in that mode. It is not suitable for the motorcycle scenario. Peter

sean winhoe Hi Sean, I am so sorry but I know nothing about radio equipment for motor cycling. Peter

Please note T80 does have voice operated transmission or VOX. This means transmission is activated by voice instead of pushing the button. There are five different sensitivity levels for this feature. Radio also supports headset which is part of the package. The only downside I can think of is the fact you can't receive while you transmit so it might be tricky to configure sensitivity of VOX. (page 5. for VOX reference www.boulanger.com/ecommerce/notices/9/5031753006259_n_0.pdf )

Can one use an aftermarket headset with microphone and earpiece ? is the jack a 2,5 or a 3,5 input?

Thank you for this pleasant review, BUT you are making a dangerous mistake when you talk about privacy channels at 7:48. Let me explain. With a simple receiver, you will hear a lot of noise when nobody is transmitting on your frequency. Since this is pretty annoying, manufacturers have introduced the so-called squelch. The squelch mutes the receiver when no signal is received, meaning that the annoying noise is not heard. As soon as a readable signal is received, for example because someone is transmitting, the device is taken off the mute and the transmission can be heard. The subcode on the T80 (what you are referring to as a privacy channel) is indeed broadcasting a (sort of) code, which will end the squelch (and make the transmission audible) only of another T80 receiver having the same subcode. BUT... the transmitting side is still transmitting a standard FM signal that can be heard by any receiving device tuned at the same frequency. There is NO privacy, no encoding, no scrambling and no encryption of any kind taking place whatsoever. Anyone with an FM receiver (a scanner) close enough to you can hear you. Nothing private!

Hi Thilina, It is nearly impossible to help...Have you checked that both instruments have fully charged batteries? Have you turned the audio gain up fully? When you press the send button do you hear a noise? I would take it to your dealer and ask his or her advice. Peter
@thilinaf20107 жыл бұрын
yes. if the battery fully charge does it red bulb light up green.
@thilinaf20107 жыл бұрын
There is no noise in other set but the press one yes.
@NewBritWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
When you press the send button of the other one does it make a noise like the other one? If so it sounds as though they both work. So, after that try different channels and see what happens. Peter
