I like that you called it a bass drum that makes pitches because I’ve always called it a dancing bass drum, lol! So very similar concept to my perspective :)

This was REALLY great. The pace was perfect for an intermediate player. Too many videos belabor the basics or feel compelled to review Music Theory 101. This video helped connect a lot of disparate dots for me.

hello thanks for your teaching, but can you used the electric bass guitar 4 stren.?
@RayParker6 жыл бұрын
All the same stuff works on electric. The sound of electric bass makes it challenging to get the feel right because there isn't as much percussion on the note and the sustain is too flat. It can be done, of course, but it's a different sound and feel. Steve Swallow does it very well -- and with a pick!

Im new to Jazz im from more southern blue rock stuff. I seem to mainly see guys playing the upright double bass like yours. Is it considered a cardinal sin to use an electric bass in jazz? I mean if I try to get out and get some gigs.
@Nikosi9 Жыл бұрын
No, it's not. There are many electric players. Sonny Rollins has been using a bass player, Bob Cranshaw, on electric bass. Also, Steve Swallow is a very good player to listen to...

Hi, nice job. Quick question. What strings are you playing? Thanks!
@cotehall94343 жыл бұрын
Judging by its sound and colour of the pegbox-end, these strings sould be "Thomastik Spirocore Medium Gauge"
