When I went up the church steps there were fire officers in full kit, including oxygen cylinders, running up and down the steps for training.

Nice vid. I especially liked the sliding. Looks like a nice town. There are regular flights from Gatwick (aLondon airport) now. But in winter so far. I don’t fancy going in winter breeze

Gatwick is not very pleasant at the best of times, especially bad in winter. However there aren't many mosquitos usually so netting isn't required.

Thanks for sharing did you need the mosquito net? I never bothered with one when I was in Iceland

No, we never used them. Although near the mud baths we did run into some small blackflies. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

I went to Iceland middle of July and while I saw little midges, never saw mosquitoes. Nor that required mosquito netting, I certainly did not take one.

Hi, my cruise has a weird schedule and I won’t make it to Akureyri until mid afternoon. This has made difficult to find a convenient affordable shore excursion. Do you remember seeing a place at port offering excursions to people coming out of the ship? Cheers

We will be on the Sky Princess in June of next year visiting this port. Sorry about your luggage, we know a couple in Hawaii whose luggage didn't show up until 2 days before the end of the cruise. Were masks still mandatory in August of 2022? Quite a few people wearing them. We will have to try that slide.
@PortMonkeys Жыл бұрын
We don’t think they were mandatory, just recommended. I was in Covid quarantine for the last week of the cruise we went on before this one, so we didn’t want to take any chances. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

In all my years I’ve never needed a mosquito net in Iceland …we love the botanical gardens there worth a walk
@PortMonkeys Жыл бұрын
As it turned out, we didn’t need them. before we went we had heard you may end them. Then the airline lost our luggage and we didn’t have the nets. When we got to Myvatn Geothermal Area on our tour, there were litters black files, but they didn’t bother us. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

is there anything to do at Akureyri port? Or it's better to get an excursion?
@PortMonkeys Жыл бұрын
You saw what we did. Of course part of the problem was that it rained all day. If we went there again, we would definitely take an excursion. It is a spit of land in a fjord, so there’s really no place to go other than through town. Thank you for your comments and thank you for subscribing to our channel.

there are no mosquitoes in Iceland, but we do have other kind of flies that do sometimes bite, but they don't carry any diseases and are mostly just in Mývatn and other humid places.

Do you recommend the use of mosquito netting in June?
@PortMonkeys Жыл бұрын
@@francopp1124 we brought mosquito netting, but we never used it. So I don’t know. We got some on Amazon that went over our hats. Of course, we didn’t get our luggage on that cruise until we left Reykjavík, the last port in Iceland. We never needed it. We were there in August.
