Thank you, Henry. Germans don't seem too enthusiastic about Berlin as the city has not the best reputation in the country. Still, there are some things to see and experience for tourists. I often meet backpackers who loved Berlin and by that they mean parties. The museums are pretty good, too.

I really enjoyed this video of (Some areas in Formally East Berlin). I have been wanting to see this for a long time. Great walk (again). Beautiful sunny day. Thank you for showing us The House Ball and Hope Structure in Bethlehem Square. 2:53 Is this an elevator to the underground? 7:05 & 7:27 ? What is down there? RENT SCOOTERS found their way to Berlin! They are very popular here. 7:46 Konzerthaus Berlin Building (Concert Hall). Beautiful! 13:56 Enjoyed the violinist as well. 14:31 FINALLY, you showed us my favorite store, that my Daughter shops at for me. NIVEA 27:08 What is underground? 29:15 30:03 31:56 ? AT 33:52 Just noticed Quadriga Horses faces East on the Brandenburg Gate. I noticed this because the way the sun was setting. Do you know why, it faces east? Loved the ending at Reichstag Building: Dem Deutschen Volke 37:51 Great Video about Berlin's History, under 25 minutes. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHyYfKhnjtmIgbs

The elevator to the underground at 7:05 and 7:27 leads to the U-bahn! It's what they call the subway. About the Brandenburg Gate, the quadriga actually has an interesting history. It was stolen from France at the early 1800's, then taken back. After WW2, it was completely destroyed and they decided to reforge it. When positioning, the USSR decided it should face the eastern side. Today, the horses still face that way.
@BrigitteCoffman4 жыл бұрын
Bruno Luz - Thank you😃 Bruno!! Now I always know which side is East. Haha! Awe, subways 🚊 I have never ever been on a subway. I have learnt since I posted my questions, that Berlin has lots of underground tunnels. So does Argentina 🇦🇷. We don’t even have basements here in Oklahoma USA 🇺🇸

We were there May 2018. I was an MP at CPC 1975. Above the Einstein cafe on the 3rd floor where the bump out is was where we observed the wall. There was no building where McDonalds is. It was where we sometimes parked our MP vehicles and also accessed the building to the 3rd floor.

I can only hear it. i am very busy with your work. your interpretation, also the choice of streets is very good. I have often been asked why there are no skyscrapers in Berlin - because the ground is mostly sandy and not appropriate for high weight loads. High and heavy buildings need a spacial and very expensive ground treatment wich spoils the profitability calculation of real estate investor. The subway construction work at 24:00 eg needed eg to freeze the whole groud around with liquid nitrogen to keep ground water out.
@talijah0075 жыл бұрын
Additionally, Germans hate to do things expensively. There are many cities in the world that are not ideal for skyscrapers because of the soft topography, however, they build them because there are technologies to overcome that. Rotter dam and Amsterdam have similar or even worse grounds for such buildings.
@Rick20101005 жыл бұрын
@@talijah007 If you build such a tall building you finaly need to rent it out to make money as investor, but the people in Berlin are not willing to pay high prices for a sky scraper office. The larger compaies build office complexes in the outer scrirts. www.gerhardspangenberg.de/images/5_1.jpg There is also a complete new office district growing which has excellent traffic conncection and just around the corner Tesla is now building a European main factory.

From this video I glean that Berlin has rebuilt itself in the image of functional. Yet, one notices that it is organized and CLEAN (neat and orderly). Yet the new post WWII architecture does not lend itself to the idea of an old established city that had architectural charm, if the films remaining are any indication.

I was in Berlin one year ago and I wasn't enthusiastic about this city, before journey, after my visit in Berlin I can say only that I really like this city. In my opinion this is very nice, big, maybe not "beautiful" but esthetic, city. Still under construction, everywhere a lot of new building sites, very dynamic and modern. Yea, I recommend Berlin, honestly I like this city, and I think I will back there beacause this is too big for a few days only.
