The Cathedral of Dawn (The Orthodox Church) is not stood over by the hill (which some call "Mount Hakodate", as though it were a mountain and not a mere bulge in the land!), but, rather, the church stands over the hill and everything below so as to judge unsanctimoniously over the sore thumb which is the peninsula of Hakodate. See, this area of land is squeezed at either ends by the fingers of a phantom sea monster, and so at night it appears as only an absence, the ghostly suggestion of a "bay" which may only be seen occasionally as the folds of seafoam passing in, then passing away back into the black blanket of night.
