Hello, Michael😊 Kamakura has been urbanizing for the past 60 to 70 years, and many forests have disappeared. This forest is a precious piece of nature that escaped urban development. I took a walk through this forest to convey the historic nature, buildings, and modern streetscape of Kamakura, but the forest is about 48 hectares in size, so it took longer to walk than I expected (What's more, most of the screen in the video is the trees🤩) I hope you enjoy the sounds of nature😉

Was that a community garden at the beginning?

Hello😊 Welcome to Gentle Walk channel! Thanks for your comment. Yes, this forest still plays a role like a community garden. Kamakura has been urbanized for the past 60-70 years, and many forests have disappeared. This forest is a precious natural area that escaped urban development. Kamakura citizen volunteers are working to preserve the diverse ecosystem of this forest.

Why don't you give the date of the shooting? The date is important information, the most important even to know what context corresponds to the concerts of birds, and any manifestation of nature. This is all the more important as the climate is changing, it is a historical testimony. THANKS!

@@GentleWalk81 THANKS! I like Japan for its landscapes, but also and above all its audio, and when there are cicadas in summer. Often soundscapes are missing for technical reasons in videos, I have often listened to cicadas and birds on videos that were not shot for that purpose, for example cameras placed on a car. Too often, on landscape videos, people put music... Thank you for what you do. This place seems to be promoted a lot, they even sell bikes in France that bear the name of this region, be careful of excessive tourism!
@GentleWalk81

You have a great sensitivity to sound. They say that the buzz of cicadas sounds like just noise for many people. When the season for cicadas begins, I will go to this forest and film and release it. I agree that people put music on landscape videos too often. As you did this time, it would be very helpful what you felt and what you want after watching the video. Yes, Kamakura is a thriving tourist city, but I will be careful not to overdo it on this channel. Thank you!

@@GentleWalk81 THANKS In Japan, however, it seems that tourism is respectful. For the Japanese, nature is the habitat of spirits. In my country, it's an amusement park for tourists, and trash for most locals, we practice helicopter tours in the national park and we disclose vulnerable places on Instagram. This is what you should avoid in your home: the wild tourism of social networks is destructive and uncontrollable...

What an absolutely beautiful walk through nature! I am pretty much housebound (except for those pesky doctor appointments!). This is a real treat and a huge boost to my morale. I miss the fresh air, the solitude, the smells, the myriad of sounds, the peace of nature. You have it all! I am so glad KZbin introduced me to you. This is right up there with “The Raccoon Whisperer”! From the bottom of my heart, Thank You!

This was a beautiful walk and possibly my favorite episode. I especially love all the birdsong, but one of the best parts - about halfway thru the video, is when the whippoorwills start calling out of nowhere at 35:29 - it’s one of my favorite birdcalls and sounds so spooky out in the middle of the forest! 😯🌳🐦
@GentleWalk81

So glad to show you this forest - never visited by tourists, and rarely by locals. You're also birdsong-savvy🐤🎶 While filming, I unconsciously stopped and listened to the birds singing (I couldn’t make out the whippoorwill’s call😅)
@HectorHilva
@HectorHilva 2 ай бұрын
@@GentleWalk81 haha - that’s okay, there’s so many bird sounds it’s difficult to pick out. But if you start listening around 35:00 it’s pretty quiet but in the next minute, you hear it start calling pretty aggressively, around 35:29 and for several seconds that follow - maybe warning the others a human was approaching! 😅 It’s a rapid 3-syllable, high pitched whistle that sounds like the bird is trying to say, “whip-or-WILL!” Over and over again, usually at least 5 times in a row. There’s a lot of spooky folktales surrounding their call, which is why I always notice it. 👂🎶🐦
@GentleWalk81

Got it!👍 Your explanation is very easy to understand, so I was able to catch it right away!👂🎶🐦 It certainly sounds like they're saying "whip-or-WILL!" And they're clearly on guard, thinking, "A human is coming!"😅I'm not even close from Nausicaa.
