I was curious and looked up the nutritional content of flower petals. They are surprisingly nutritious, vitamin A, C, iron, niacin and more. I think I should have a big bowl of petals to start my day too!

I thought about that too. If my neighbor had a tortoise that ate my lawn I'd try to figure out what grasses is preferred, have a lil tortoise garden along the sidewalk or something. That would be fun.

Very interesting how he has some kind of structure under his chin that seems like he could rest his neck on! I don’t know what the things on his legs are called that look like little pebbles but they are amazing. Very prehistoric looking. He loves that fresh grass. He would be good for mowing the lawn. It just may take a while to finish. You might be better off walking him through the yard if you have grass because that is what he is loving. Fresh grown food! That stuff that has sat on the grocery store shelf is not nearly as good or nutritious.

The protrusions under his chin are called gular scutes! Male sulcatas use them to fight with other sulcatas over territory or females. The "pebbles" on his legs are called osteoderms. They're actually bone protrusions used to help protect them and to help them dig!

Hi Caitlin and Tiptoe and Mom too. Have you ever considered using a stick and string and tie a a fruit to it and dangle it in front of him to encourage him to walk in the direction you want. I do that with my little hermann's tortoise and it works like a charm.

You can easily drain Tiptoe's bath using the siphon method. Like when you're siphoning gasoline out of a car tank. This if done right will drain almost all of the water from his bath.
