So glad I found this. This inspired me to do my first jump back in 1983 and seeing it again has brought back many happy skydiving memories! :-)

Those rigs look pretty modern. 3 rings release system, throwable pilot chute, ram air chutes. Did you start with this same equipment back in 83? Thanks
@Wobbler619 Жыл бұрын
@@Jump-n-smash yes all that type of gear was around in '83 (3 ring release, throwaway PCs on leg strap or bellyband, Racer containers with round reserves). Most mains were 7 cell though and I don't think AFF really existed then so I started on static line round canopies.

Awesome brother. So glad to hear you made your dream of flight a reality after seeing this movie.. I'm watching this for the 1st time today and after my older brother put me in his rig with a round main when I was 7 years old and tried to fly me like a kite tieing a rope to the chest strap and promised to take me skydiving when I turned 18.. He never did but I did..lol Made my 1st jump in 1992 on my Bday.. I'm now a master skydiver with a C-23008 & D license and a Pro rating & let's not forget the Bob Burquist awards CCR & CCS.. where are you now? Where is the closest dropzone to your home? When was your last jump?

These old skydiving vids are what got me interested when I was a kid. I made my first jump Sept 1998, and have been working in the sport ever since. I've been fortunate enough to meet some of these "old-timers" that made it possible for all of us to do this. Legends. But it's still a young sport, and so much has changed since these days. Those first 100 jumps are precious.

Brings back a few memories. My skydiving days basically finished in early 1979, with a brief attempt to resurrect it again in the mid eighties at Toogoolawah (Qld).Started at Camden but most jumps over the following seven years at Wilton. Thought I recognised a few familiar faces in the video clip (Dave Flood, Peter Eadie and if the cameraman is the same Tony Scott as I knew, we started jumping about the same time.Great to watch.

Love watching this every so often. I stated jumping a year later... but it was movies like this that got me into camera work.. I'm one of that generation that started filming with a 35mm stills camera and video camera on the helmet...and the battery powered VHS recorder on the chest! Then on to the Hi8 camcorder... and like most from those days my neck is pretty buggered lol. I suppose everyone just wears a Go Pro these days...

The T-10s went to Victoria to the Parachute School at Puckapunyal and Euroa. I packed them again there in the late 1980s. After that...UV exposure and nylon is not a great long-term combination.
