Thanks! Just got back from a trout trip this weekend and I’ll be heading out again. We struggled to find trout, only catching one, but it was a good fish. I’m hoping that video will be live in the next week or so.

@@therealfarwater yep I will be heading up on Monday the 16th to venture out and see what I can catch. Hopefully get on a laker or 2 and maybe some Brook trout action. Looks like the weather will be fairly good for the next week. I haven't even decided what lakes to fish yet so it should be an adventure! lol

I am planning a Late May BWCA trip. We are currently planning on going in at Snowbank and camping on Disappointment Lake. have you heard anything about the fishing in Disappointment? I also plan on doing a day trip up to Ahsub Lake to try for some trout. Any advice on these?

Disappointment is a good fishing lake. Plenty of bass, pike and walleye. Late May I would concentrate on relatively shallow water (8-15’) for most species. Jig and a minnow would be my go-to. As for Ahsub, I don’t think the MN DNR is stocking it anymore so I doubt you’ll find any trout there. It’s a gorgeous lake worth seeing, though.

@@therealfarwater thanks for the reply. It sounds like the trip got pushed back to late June. I assume by that time walleye will likely be deeper, smallies will be out of spawn starting to move deeper, and the bite will transition to leaches?

@@DoctorSnakes27yup! leeches and crawlers should both be productive in late June. Concentrate your efforts on lowlight hours. Don’t forget shallow water, deeper lakes can still be in the 60 degree range late June, so fish will be looking for shallow and or moving water. Troll crankbaits in the evening if you’re after a trophy. Let me know how it goes :)
