In the late 70's I lived in Westport, it was a party area, Kelly's Bar and many other places. I loved KC back then.

KC *was* better in many ways, I agree, but in many ways the city has had a real resurgence and many areas that were just a ghost town at night and on the weekends are now thriving living/working/leisure areas.

Missouri has always been a fascination for me as I lived in Kansas all my life. But there are parts of Missouri I love. Westport, The Plaza, Cliff Drive area, Slope Parkway, North Kansas City, Westside, Downtown K.C., Ward Parkway, Forsyth, Osage Beach, Table Rock, Branson, Lee's Summit, Liberty, Penn Valley, etc., etc.!!!*

It hasn't been The Bijou since 1976 or so. It was renamed to the Tivoli Theater then. Even that is long gone, having closed in 1999 and now gone for almost 25 years. There were the Tivoli "Cinema" 3 screens nearby that it just couldn't compete with. Bijou(by that name) gone almost 50 years. After it was the Tivoli Theater, it became Blaney's Bar and that operated at least until 2005, but I don't know how far past that. Westport as undergone a major overhaul on many streets, like much of KC in the last 10-15 years and many of the old haunts are gone. That location has been a few things I think, but now it is some sushi place of no special note.
