I went for a long walk and when I got home I had severe lower back and hip pain. After doing you stretches after walking exercise the pain was completely gone. I will do everyday the before and after walking exercises. They really work and I thank you so much. I’m a fan!❤

This was great. One calf has had an injury 15 years ago and never really healed… so now ido yoga and physical therapy exercises online like yours… I do exercises for calf back knee shin basically all from hip down and softly. Should I be focusing in one muscle at a time ?

@MAP ideally do both and when your body is warm, avoid stretching your calf when not warmed up a 5 min walk prior to stretching is ideal or even a warm shower. You can do isolated calf stretches along with stretches for the whole lower limb as it's likely with a long-standing injury that other muscle groups in the lower limb and even the buttocks have some tightness too. Been walking 12 kilometers everyday since July 2020. Never stretched once & my body has been paining everyday, from the past several weeks. Right now, after my evening walk, I did this guided session & it feels like I just had a super relaxing body massage. I can literally feel the blood flowing through many organs. Great stretches. Thx. You mentioned at the beginning of the video (1.32 min.) to point your foot rather than flex so that you don’t get nerve pain. I’ve been getting a lot of nerve pain in my limbs and wondering if it is from overstretching from yoga, Just a thought. Any insight, Michelle?

Hi Michelle. Can you share some insight on nerve pain and overstretching. Been doing yoga for 30 years and quite can’t figure out why my limbs are tingling. These stretches are great and my hamstrings are always tight after walking or swimming. Pointing vs flexing was an a-ha moment. Can you pls expand on that? Reference 1.32 in your video. Thx

@Becky Kastner thank you for your great question. There are particular stretches that stretch the nerves and can risk overstretching them or cause neural (nerve) symptoms such as tingling - the stretch that you identify here is one such stretch. I think that if you are experiencing tingling that you don't relate directly to specific exercises then it would be a good idea to discuss further with your doctor. Otherwise a Physiotherapist who can assist you with neural stretching if this is required. I hope that this helps and all the best! 🙏

@michellephysio . Hi Michelle. Love your website/videos and your way of talking us through the various exercises. I am 70 years of age and have been power walking for 4 years (in earlier years did some running) and wonder if you could suggest stretching exercises pre and post power walking. I PW for around an hour (four miles) three times a week. Recently I have been noticing my calves are tight for the first two miles and legs feel tired (heavy). Also I have noticed a very slight (low sound) snapping sound over the hip (snapping hip syndrome?). It has only just started and only happens a few times a day.

@gerhardfehners5480 Hi there, sounds as though you’re doing really well, keep up yr great work! I suggest varying the surfaces you’re walking on avoiding hard surfaces constantly. Foot wear can also contribute to calf (& hip flexor) tightness too so important that you’re wearing the correct footwear for your feet. Some specialised sports shoe stores are helpful in assisting with this, in Australia we have ‘Athletes Foot’ stores that offer this helpful service. You can also consult with a Physio for specific exercises for your body or a podiatrist to assist with appropriate foot wear selection (the arches in the foot can drop as we mature) so it would be potentially useful to have this type of assessment too.
