smart!!! taking the bus is no failure. Just think if you dont take advantage of some of the services they have it could cause you to miss the whole adventure. Thats why the bus is there and the service where they pick up your backpack and take it to the next albergue for you. No failure.

Thank you for the kind words, and you are totally right. It felt heartbreaking at the time, but it was the right move.

Sorry to hear about your knee Abbey. Good to see you got through the hike on this day Abbey. Puente La Reina is a gorgeous town and I loved the interior. Thank you for another great episode.

Hello from Australia, loving your Camino videos. Can I ask where you stayed in Pamplona..I can't seem to find the details. Are you posting one video per week? I'm a Camino tragic and haven't even walked yet...I just want to watch them all now! 😊🥰

Hello. Yes it will be one per week. Sorry.🫣 We are still compiling and editing them as we travel. We have to skip this week because we have no stable internet. In Pamplona, we stayed in El Rincon de Loli (available on booking.com) Thank you so much for watching. We appreciate the enthusiasm!

Enjoyed your video. We are walking the Camino this summer. I like the idea of having the fanny pack support your backpack. Would you mind sharing the brand and size of the fanny pack? Also, what size backpack did you take with you?
@lostamonglocals5382
@lostamonglocals5382 6 ай бұрын
The pack is from Herschel supply company. Ryan actually just carried our computer backpack so it doesn't have a liter measurement. I carried a small 20L but he had most of the stuff. I would say most hikers had a 30L. Some had the huge hiking packs but it definitely isn't necessary. The less you bring the better really. There's always a store pretty close by for most of the journey. Hope that helps

@@lostamonglocals5382 Ok, great, thank you! My backpack is a 30L and I have been a little worried it would be too small. Good to know there are plenty of stores if needed. I will look for the pack, I think that was a great idea you shared to help carry the weight of the backpack. Thanks again!

You're welcome! In my opinion, 30 is enough. There's plenty of places to do laundry, tons of little shops everyday along the trail, and you'll even hit a few big cities.

Wow you guys are amazing. To be honest I don't think I would want to do that lol. I have a bad knee and hip. That's right the power is on the hips. So inspiring.❤

Most days were really ok, Abby pulled her hip flexor on the first day which caused all kinds of nerve chaos to ensue in her leg🤣. The first couple weeks were rough on and off.

What was the weather like mid-May? You are lovely couple and thank you for generously sharing your daily experiences on the Camino. Much appreciated. Did you do any training for this long trek across Spain? Did you need to use any of the local pharmacies or medical clinics along the way? Also, what health insurance agency would you recommend. Thank you in advance. ~Buen Camino

Hey there! Great questions. We did not do any training aside from trying to take a daily walk in the month prior to our start. We did stop in many local pharmacies for aunscreen, Voltaren cream, and blister treatment. We did not utilize any clinics, but some Camino family did. There are excellent podiatrists, massage therapists, and physiotherapist in every major city. They are amazing, specialize in Camino injuries, and are very reasonable in price. We utilize a travel/health insurance called Safety Wing . Hope that helps

I watched the video of Camino Tips, Best Albergues and Pretty Pamplona. I realize that you were pretty new pilgrims. I just want to correct (and you may have somewhere else on one of your videos or here in comments) what you said about a donativo that I believe was in Viana.. You mentioned that donativos mean you do not have to pay and you can pay what you would like. This is technically true. But as many peregrinos will tell you donativo does not mean free, They depend on the generosity of people to keep their albergues up and running. There are pilgrims who who walk with little or no money. You may have met one on your pilgrimage. These pilgrims are who the rest of us are paying for as well as keeping the donativo open and running. Yes some donativos have the support of the church or some charitable organization but many others are opened and running out of the kindness and incredible generosity of people like you and me. There are pilgrims that leave scant little or no money who can easily afford to pay at least what you would pay at a municipal albergue. I have actually witnessed pilgrims who put no money in the donation box (I always hope they came back later to do it but of course I do not know) and then see them eating a big meal in a restaurant later that evening. Another thing that we should all do when we go to a donativo is to ask if we can help out in any way. Cleaning or helping to cook a communal dinner or to wash up after. These people work very hard. They are up way before the first pilgrim rises if they offer breakfast and go to sleep after most of us are tucked into our beds. So please let other new pilgrims know that donativos do not mean free and if we have the means to please donate at least what you would at a municipal. Of course even more if they offer a communal meal. Buen Camino.

Completely agree!! I hope we didn't make it sound like you shouldn't donate well. We certainly didn't mean to. We found these to be some of our favorite spots along the route with the kindest hospitalers! Thanks for elaborating.

You did not sound like you should not donate. I am an active member of Ivar's forum and I can tell you that the subject of what a donativo is and the payment to stay in one is something that comes up often. I just wanted to clarify this point to avoid confusion. You are 100% correct that some of the best camino experiences a pilgrim can have is at a donativo.
