Sad shit man they come and gentrify the area and the people that need help they just let them continue living in hell, I'm all for making areas safer but don't forget about the generations of people living here, (some who been living here since the 1950s calling this place home for their entire lives).

Seeing it on video it just diff for some reason. And it's a shame bc it's not getting better anytime soon. There's a mass exodus out of NY rt now. Why are people leaving, because of the vaccine passports thing?
@limit420 Жыл бұрын
@@studas2011 no there's been a mass exodus from NY since before Covid - that just made it worse. Main reason is the pricing. NY is a cesspool but is still 1 of the most expensive places in the world to live. Have friends paying $1200-$1600/month for beautiful, 3-4BR houses down south. In NY, you're lucky to find a 1BR POS appt or a studio for under $2K. That's not even considering the property tax (usually about 10x more than other states). Now with this bail reform and criminals being released same day, it's rly becoming a problem. I'm out on Long Island most of the time and it's a little better out here but same story. Even in the nicest areas you'll get approached by a homeless guy asking for $$ or a criminal looking to scam/rob u. What happens is, NYC adopts whatever policies Cali starts. Then, the counties usually follow along soon after. So even if u live in a nice area, out of NYC, u still deal with the same BS as living in NYC.

For all of the people talking about danger and whatever, if you are minding your own business, 90% of the people you pass are cool. Granted, I'm a big guy. That probably plays a role. I still remember one time, years ago, when I wasi n the city for a work-related conference and hit the town during a heatwave. One of my first times staying in the city. Was in a tank top - tattoos all out. It was back when I had a short mohawk. Fr, I know the exact part of harlem hes walking through and have been there many times at night. Never really felt like there way any danger. The litter is definitely adding to the bad vibes people perceive for the area.

I feel like a lot of these comments have a racialized and classist element to them as well. I mean as long as you're not trying to start something or you're not wearing something offensive is it really so dangerous to walk through a hood like that?
@zlPoplz Жыл бұрын
Not really. As long as you keep it moving and aware of your surroundings you'll mostly be fine.

Really love how most men comment only about how it must be easy for a guy like this to walk through or that it’s safer for the “average joe” if he does this or that. Sharing tactics. I’ll bet you putting on a mean look doesn’t work for us women when we walk down streets like this. I’m appalled by the people downplaying the dangers of walking through these areas and ignoring women existing. We are targets. This man didn’t get bothered once, I get lewd shit thrown at me every other day walking downtown Chicago. Carry protection.

If all you're getting are lewd comments then that's something to be grateful for. Could be worse with the way NYC and Chicago streets are. I'm only saying this because you felt the need to put yourself out there. I really do wish random men didn't make comments like that but on the flip side I'm glad most don't do more than that.

Comments? You're worried about someone talking to you? If that's all you have to worry about then you must not have much to worry about.
@jenosshowerheads5836 Жыл бұрын
@@rendezvousonmemorylane tf don't minimize her experience 💀 do you have to hear lewd shit being said at you and creeps invading your personal space everyday? i don't think so. no woman wants to be harassed on the streets. besides, a lot of the times that easily turns into assault since those creeps don't like being ignored or being said no to. show some basic human compassion man.
