I always wondered if people would actually steal your pots. Peppers can be replaced easily enough, but losing pots can get expensive. Hearing that no one ever messed with yours restores my faith in humanity.

I grow a lot of plants and flowers in pots in my front garden here in the UK. I remember about five years ago I was leaving to go out and there was a woman walking around my front garden admiring all the plants. I asked a friendly, “can I help you?” And she just replied “no love, I’m just admiring all these lovely plants.” 😂 I’m not a very confrontational person, but considering that she would have had to open a gate to be in there, I feel that my reply of “well this isn’t public space, so you know…” was justified 🤣.

This year my harvest wasn't great. My plants languished in solo cups too long due to the cold spring in Minneapolis. I should have up-potted to gallon pots, but I had too many pepper plants, and it was too overwhelming. I still got I don't know how many pounds of all sorts of screamers. I'm fermenting this year, and today I got my first grow tent. I'm going to extend the season and see if I can't get a few more pods. Who knows, maybe I'll have some Christmas presents. Thanks Rob!

Rob, I’m looking for a particular type of pepper that I’ve grown many years ago I think I was 16 years old at that time. It stands upright, it’s about 1.5 inch in size maybe even one inch. I don’t know the name of it because the seed was given to me that far back. Maybe 50 years ago. The pepper plant also stands up right too. The heat is probably at 100. I can’t seem to find it so far. It looks similar like a Santa Fe but it’s not a Santa Fe. The fruit is smaller than a Santa Fe. When I grew them I sold the pepper fruits for $10 per lb, that was back then. I sell them to restaurants and grocery stores. Asians would take a bite first then when from the taste test they’ll buy it. Anyways, I just love your videos and how it’s not boring and you just make it so interesting and how you just know so much about the peppers you grow. You truly have that passion for your plants that makes me admire you. Just live it!

I'm preparing to install a heavy-duty clear tarp over my 8x12 raised bed garden to overwinter the peppers. I stopped doing this about 5 years ago when I would keep my pubescens peppers alive for up to five years. The worst condition for me is strong winds, so fingers crossed I don't have that issue.

I will tell you that I did have a little incident with some of our neighborhood kids going in our backyard and picking some of my peppers that were hanging off of one of the plants over my garden fence, and guess what evidence I found that this happened? Well, one of the peppers that they picked was one of only two crosses between a chocolate bhutlah and a red ghost, one of them was missing, and guess where I found it? It was on the ground right in front of my garden hose on the side of my house with a bite taken out of it and the hose was never turned off. You know what that tells me? One of the kids picked it off the plant, took a bite and regretted it and ran for the hose LOL There was a couple of our neighborhood kids that was previously interested in my pepper plants and I was nice and gave them a few of the really mild varieties to which they liked, but they were also playing around with the peppers challenging each other. I told them never to go in my backyard and take any of the peppers without me being there because I told them most of my varieties would be way too spicy for them. Apparently they didn't listen LOL

I got my seeds from Botanical Interest this year. Would you please let me know the steps you usually follow to grow those? I reside in a 10B zone and I grew up in the Caribbean so one would think that I should how to do this😢. I just keep on failing. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble growing your Scotch Bonnets. I'd need to know a little more. Do the seeds germinate? At what do they fail?
@herminevoltaire6110

@@7PotClub Thank you for answering. Fist growing season, I bought my seeds from Amazon - No germination whatsoever. Second growing season, I bought my seeds from Amazon again - Placed them in wet towels inside of a ziplock bag and on top of a heating pad. Few germinations observed. However, after transplanting into small cells and still placed on the heating pad. Nothing grew out of the cells. Also, I used growing lights.

If you buy seeds from Amazon, you need to make sure you're buying from a trusted seller. There are many scammers who will send you worthless seeds. It's happened to me. I recommend www.semillas.de/shop_en/index.html. I can't give you detailed growing instructions in this comment, but I do have several videos about how to start hot peppers from seed if you want to check them out. Good luck!

I use Pro-Mix organic potting mix. I buy it from Menard's, a big box hardware chain here in the midwest. I save and reuse it every year, adding soil amendments like compost. There are so many costs. Pots, fertilizers, etc. I bought my supplies over many years, so it's really hard to estimate a total cost. If I was starting from scratch, the soil alone would probably be a few hundred dollars. Hope that helps!
