You actually walked the Rabbit Proof Fence, amazing. This story inspired my writing. . Did you have a team with you? Since somebody will have filmed you. And you actually met Daisy// Wow. Did you write about it all.? My question is my next trip to Australia with my friend Chrissie we will travel in a campervan and I definitely want to go to Jigalong. Where did you stay when you got there and any advise on whom I should contact in advance?
@lindseygcole6 жыл бұрын
Hi Elizabeth. Thnks for the kind message. No i didn't. I filmed most of it myself. One of the kids filmed the end bit here. You need to get a permit to go to Jigalong. Contact the WA governement to get one. Yes, I'm currently trying to write a book about it all. x

Must've felt amazing to retrace the girls' steps and be in their home! I just read the article about your own journey along "their" fence and I had no idea Daisy was still alive! (is she still? because if she is since passed on then I am sorry for saying her name (I know the rule about that))

lindsey cole you're welcome :) it is, I was really amazed that Daisy is still living. I've seen the movie several times and although there are parts of it (particularly how the girls were abducted, but I was very angry that it was legal to go up to these people's homes and snatch their kids and drive off with them) that are inaccurate to the book (which I haven't read beyond previews). One thing about the movie that still affects me was seeing Kenneth Branagh as A.O. Neville. I remember being stunned on my first viewing of it a year ago because Kenneth is someone whose voice I've grown up with since I first watched "Walking With Dinosaurs" when I was seven, so it was pretty shocking to see him playing role of a racist man. And then for me there's the fact that the events happened in 1931, the year both of my great-grandparents were born, and also I'm mixed race, half black and half white like the girls (but I'm not Indigenous person or Australian) so... yeah... But I still love the movie, and the three child actresses were very believable and natural in their performances, and they were first time actresses too. So your walk and the real girls' walk along the fence took three months, yeah? I am really amazed at how they were able to stay undetected for the most part, they even outsmarted the authorities, and this is a (at the time of the events, of course) fourteen year old, a ten year old and an eight year old we're talking about
