I've done the WHW a few times and the 'no rush' attitude makes it the most enjoyable. In fact I'd even encourage people to take 'off' days from the trail, either to rest or explore areas off the trail. For instance at Inversnaid, take a day off and climb one of the hills or walk up to Loch Katrine. The first couple of days are the hardest, after that your body makes adjustments to trail life.

Really enjoyed watching. Definitely one of the best WHW films. Amazing amount of miles covered. Similar to my 4 days which with a full pack was too much. For others I stayed at Balmaha, Beinglais, Tyndrum (snowed!) Glencoe. I overnighted in Glen Nevis and early morning coach back Glasgow. Will see what other walking videos you have undertaken. Happy adventures in ‘24. The Rain bakery in FW is something else. Went back two years ago and went by train. Weird feeling watching the WHW walkers along the path out of Tyndrum to BoO.

Good going in 6 days, I could only manage 8½. I know what you mean about the vibes at Beinglas campsite, I stopped there on day 4 after only 6 miles and stayed the night, I needed the shorter day. The place just felt so welcoming. Oh and at 39:00 ... I wild camped right there on the right, in that little alcove off the drovers road! Amazing views across the moor.

Just been catching up on your videos , having been linked to the Camino ones. Lovely trails and your perspective on slowing down and thinking for your own health is one I have also been following this last year . One thing i like is no drone, just the ground shots that keep it real and the views as they come and go. Anyway a new subscriber you now have. If you have time for shorter one day trips this autumn, try some of the walks around Perthshire -' Big Tree Country' where the sounds of the trees and the locks and river Tay are very soothing. The colours are just stunning and good access from Pitlochry or via Perth and local buses.

The West Highland way was my first outing into the outdoors. Walked part of the way to kingusie hotel with somebody from Invverness. I camped in my tent, he had a tarp and got eaten alive by the midges. Had torential rain one day, by the time I had set up my tent and got the outer on, the inner was filled with water. Walked to kingusie hotel with some guy from Inverness, he had to camp using a tarp as hotel full. Poor guy got eaten alive by midges, not me nthough as had a tent. On the bus coming back from fort william was a canadian girl who went up ben nevis wearing trainers, broke her ankle, was in a plaster cast. The tent I used, a 3 season WIld Country Mistrel was later destroyed in the carngorms in an storm with 80mph winds reported.

Day 2: Relatively flat along Loch Lomond???!!! You must have taken the upper (& easier) route. For me it was an arduous up and down with many stony paths, rocks, tree roots, mud and slithery bits.... Blimey, you're on Day 5 and wanting to make it to Fort William!! Kinlochlevan -> F. William is 15 miles alone and Kinlochlevan still lay ahead. The hill out of Kinlochlevn.... hmmm.... A surprise? As I made the long descent into this valley the previous day, I thought 'I'm gonna have to climb out of this tomorrow!' Well done for completing in 6 days, Natalie. I took a planned 8 but took my time, took 100's of photographs and a lot of video footage and panoramas. The scenery blew me away. An amazing solo holiday.

@@wakingtheworld yeah my day 2 was similar, I walked from Drymen to Sallochy campsite just south of Rowardennan. My third day went a bit sideways, I ended up wild camping just north of Inversnaid hotel. I meant to get alot further up the loch that day but I got chatting to people at Inversnaid and beer was involved 😂 I did it last week so my sunsets were between 7pm and 7:30pm, I was a bit squeezed for daylight hours. Yeah I agree, the shore route is lovely.

This was such a relaxing watch, thank you. It looks a challenge but I enjoy your approach, just set out and let the path provide. I recently attempted The Cumbria Way and managed 45 miles before I hurt my knee. It was really difficult to recognise I needed to stop but I did. I'm intrigued on how much food you carry and do you stock up in each town or stop? I made the mistake of overpacking food and I think the weight was part of the knee injury on difficult terrain. Always lessons to learn though!
@Natalielaura Жыл бұрын
Happy to hear it was relaxing ☁️ ☁️ It was quite a challenge! but the silence and landscape was worth it. 45 miles on the cumbria way is amazing! well done. I have experienced a knee injury myself so I know the feeling and it is best to stop. I didn't carry too much food on me on the WHW as there are so many cafes and amenities multiple parts throughout each day. But I always had a day to 2 days worth of some food on me and if wild camping then at least a litre of water. But you are next to the Loch so you can filter the water and you're all set. Pack weight is definitely something I try to keep light and carry as little as possible! 🌱
