In this video, I take a complete walk through the heart of Rio de Janeiro, exploring both its bustling areas and quieter spots. I started my walk on Rua da Alfândega, passing by the famous Mercado Popular of Uruguaiana without entering, and continued along Rua Uruguaiana to Rua 7 de Setembro, where we captured the VLT in motion. Then, I visited Largo de São Francisco de Paula and entered the stunning Portuguese Reading Room, a place rich in history and culture.
The walk continued along Avenida Rio Branco as night fell, filming the people passing by and the VLT stations. I then passed through Rua São José, an area full of street markets, shops, restaurants, and bars, with a lively, vibrant atmosphere. Finally, I arrived at Palácio Tiradentes and Praça XV, where I filmed people going about their day, boarding the ferries.
To wrap things up, I took a bike ride around Praça XV to Largo da Candelária, where I filmed the Olympic Cauldron, the Nossa Senhora da Candelária Basilica, and the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center. With an amazing view of the bay and a beautifully lit nighttime scene, this journey shows a safe and authentic side of downtown Rio de Janeiro.
Is Rio de Janeiro dangerous? Come find out with me as I share my peaceful experience walking through the city's streets, even while carrying recording equipment!
