Walking thru South Point Casino

Took a walk thru Michael Gaughan's South Point located on the south end of the Las Vegas Strip.
The Andalusion World Cup Horse Competition is an annual event every September at the South Point. Lucky for us, we met an owner that gave us a behind the scenes look at the horse stalls & practice arena.

One of my faves. I like the spacious and high ceiling area in the casino. They hosts a lot of different events and tournaments there. Poker, bingo, bowling, archery(Vegas shoot), equestrian and rodeos. Also the andlusian horse events that you covered. Thanks for taking one for the team in the pit on the horse stables. The smell must've been Sssaaawweeeettt!!!😄😄😄 Keep on rocking you two. ALOHA \m/🌊🌴🍍

Nice place..Used to be south coast.. Boyd gaming bought barbary coast from the current owner of South Point in 2005.. They then traded him south coast for his share of stocks in boyd gaming. Boyd traded barbary coast to harrahs for 11 acres where the westward ho used to sit. Never stayed at south coast but did tour it and gambed there also.. Love ur videos.. Been coming to Vegas since 1980.. Will be back soon.. I love the history of Vegas.. Keep up the good work.. Would be interesting to chat with u all sometime.. You all have a great attitude.. 😊

I went there a decade ago when I went to my sister's wedding. The night before the wedding I spent almost the entire night in the casino playing slots which were hitting good and didn't want to leave till I started to get weary. It's a great place to stay, eat and play.

Never stayed here but went bowling here one time in like 2007. The memorable thing that happened to me was after bowling, it was late around midnight, I was going back to my hotel, I went out to the parking lot, and there was this older couple in front of me, it was late and it was dark, and we were the only people there, and they kept looking back at me, and the lady went, let's go this way honey, so they walked away from me, and I felt bad cuz I'm like do they think I'm dangerous? But then I felt good cuz I was like, yeah baby, I look dangerous!

The wall of horse tack /equipment was horse halters . Halters go on the face and head behind the ears to attach a lead line or shank ( a 6ft leather strap with a brass chain) to walk the horse as you lead it by hand . Keep the horse on your right and stay near its neck as you walk . Those halters looked like the halter wall of Fame !

Very nice video, parts of the South Point I've never seen. You missed the sportsbook you got the horse bettering book and the Grandview. But not the sportsbook and it's pretty nice too. The South Point is a fine casino, I live in the condos across the street.

On the wall are breast collars they keep your saddle from moving. Not so sure about Boyd family or Boyd gaming... but more so Michael and Paula gaughan. They owned the Barbary coast. Now the Cromwell. Paula had cutting horses after the sale of the barbery coast they built the south point to support Paula's love for equine and cutting horses. They moved their world famous Michael's restaurant to south point as well. I used to have cutting horses and we would practice at Paula's house along with Jerry Gillock a prominent lawyer here in town.
