Wow, you guys gave me a glimpse of the neighborhood I grew up in! I used to live few blocks from Tungmahamek school which is on the west side of Naradhiwas Rd. in the early 70's and walked through these streets almost on daily basis. All has been changed and mostly unrecognizable but still feels nostalgic as I watch this particular video. Thank you both for your time in producing and sharing these time consuming clips.

What a wonderful way to start the day, eating breakfast while watching you two give us a tour of your walk to work! I just love all the sounds and activity in BKK, and to see the restaurant owners happily working and serving their customers. Brings back so many fond memories. I also remember that I used to count the seconds until the first bead of sweat would form on my forehead once I left the condo. Man, you guys are true pioneers, walking 30 minutes in the BKK heat!

It was a Saturday and so the numbers would normally be a little lower, but at this time so many people have moved away from Bangkok and so many others are heeding the warnings to stay home. Even without the number of cars, you still get the same percentage of crazy drivers. 👍☹🙏

Apart from Jok Thais eat incredibly similar stuff at every meal. Westerners struggle with savoury and spicy in the morning. You've learned your whole life to have starch, maybe slightly sweet, in the morning.

The camera is a Sony RX100 V5 and we both use Zoom audio recorders. Having 2 audio recorders provides much better audio quality, but it is extremely annoying for editing. 👍😎🙏

You ever think you never get enough starch? The topping noodle/rice ratio just disappoints! I need more volume.

@@OurLifeThai But it's the standard ratio. It's as if the Thais are fed up with rice and rice starch. I'd take less of the expensive toppings for a decent quantity of starch. Even if you pay an extra 10 baht it doesn't look like enough. Rice is 18B a kg. Even allowing for electrcity and profit 10B worth of rice should be a wedge. I took a rice cooker to Thailand last time. Put on 250g of rice, walk to the market, buy curry, and by the time you get back you've enough starch for a 13 stone farang and it cost 5 baht.

No, you'll need to visit the NRMA or the motoring body in your state to get an International License before you can drive (legally) here. I find driving here extremely frustrating and only get behind the wheel 2 or 3 times per month now! 👍🙏

I've always been on a marriage visa to stay in Thailand. Now I have a work permit also. Work permits are a little easier to get if you're here on a marriage visa. 👍😇😇🙏

Seems to be no respect for pedestrians on the way to work. Stalls encroaching on the footpath. Cars, motor cycles parked anywhere. I like to walk, but not easy in this area. I would have thought Sathorn would be more upmarket. I acknowledge you say you went the scenic route.
