actually its not particularly clean. There was in 2019 when I was there alot of litter in the streets and the city rater chaotic. Visitors BEWARE of many the huge deep POTHOLES in the pavements (sidewalks) even in the center !! Its easy if not looking to simply fall in and break something. It can obviously spoil your visit. So have decent travel insurance too. Driving can be dangerous! The locals are NOT good careful drivers and there are many serious/fatal accidents. Sorry to be rather negative. Better "safe than sorry"

The city is unfriendly to pedestrians. There are few zebra crossings, even fewer with lights. The pavements are too narrow for the number of people walking on them. Far too many cars in the city centre.

sadly true. and as mentioned earlier BEWARE of the many deep POTHOLES in the sidewalks. The locals just don't seem to care and it does not bother them. But you can be seriously injured.

in a way you are perfectly right. Due to their large families the Hindu community seem to be gradually taking over the country. Consequently it looks like any Indian chaotic messy city which will not appeal to all.

@@fbrs4455 geographically Mauritius in in the African Continent. It just resembles India these days more & more. Goodlands is a typical Indian Hindu village with a vibrant market. I liked it for its asian kitchen supply shops at reasonable prices. Worth a visit and a decent curry
