12:37 no. There was a debate for a while whether Triceratops and Torosaurus were the same species (more specifically, there was a theory Torosaurus was an adult Triceratops and the one we know is a juvenile). But scientists have generally decided they're separate. Great video, BTW.

Btw, I forgot to mention that I disagree about Giant of the Skies being the worst. What you complained about I don't see as a flaw at all, I liked how they diverged from the Ornithocheirus at times to explore other dinosaurs. Did you really want the entire episode to be focused strictly on the Ornithocheirus? I would think that would be boring. It's actually my second favorite after Death of a Dynasty. But other then that I mostly agree.
@billkotsarinis15445 жыл бұрын
Well, he has a point,this episode doesnt has only paleontological inaccuracies but also its a litle poorly made, feels like it got made just to bring one more episode n order to have a more completed series and because they knew how to make a realy great series the episode got a semi good episode, so in my opinion its the second worse but i apriciate it and has my second favorite theme

I'm sure someone else has said this, but the Polar Allosaur isn't speculative. It was real, but we didn't know what it was when WWD aired. Now we know it is Australovenator, a megaraptoran. If you've never heard of megaraptorans before, they're like if dromaeosaurs had their sickle claws on their hands.
Really loved this review man. Personally I think giant of the skies is my favorite because it captures how unfair nature is, this documentary doesn’t shy away from the truth of how hard and cruel it is to be in nature. I can definitely agree that with a story you don’t need to focus on other creatures but to be fair they only show dinosaurs that our main flying character is around, better than just jumping all over the place they stay consistent to what animals to show and some of the iguana done scenes even impact our main character. But that’s just my personal input on the episode and I can totally see where your coming from. You got a new subscriber Gigan fan, I loved this video.

10:48 it's not speculative, it's just that when they did this documentary, the remain of this dinosaur were fragmentary and it superficially looked like allosaurus remains, so the just called it "Polar Allosaur" cause they needed a big antagonist for the episode, his scientific name is Australovenator

the difference between Triceratops and Torosaurus is that torosaurus had a bigger frill with holes in it well triceratops had a solid bone frill with no holes.
@combat-greyhound5653 жыл бұрын
the differnce is that Torosaurus is the adault version of Triceratops. At the area where the frill holes on Torosaurus are, the bone of Triceratops is already much thinner.

The general consensus is that Torosaurus and Triceratops are separate. The theory gained some traction because of the media. However, multiple studies, the most prominent one being done in 2012, pointed out the flaws in the theory. Really the only people who continue to support the theory are Jack Horner, one of the people behind the theory in the first place, and his die-hard fans. However, Jack Horner is also the guy who theorized that T. Rex was a scavenger, which is complete bunk and a theory that he literally only came up with for shits and giggles, so nobody really takes him seriously anymore.

He's also responsible, in a roundabout way, for Spinosaurus' popularity. Essentially, he was the scientific consultant for Jurassic Park, and by the time 3 came around, he was probably a driving force in replacing T. Rex... because of his theory that it was just a scavenger. Which is now widely recognized as dumb and illogical.
